raising sm/med pock pairs

After reading a couple of threads about raising with small/med pocket pairs, I changed my strategy and raised rather than just limping in looking for a set. Did I play these hands the right way?

pf raise is fine imo. hand 2 might even be bigger with all these callers

hand 1: bet turn bigger. (like 2/3 pot) To me this looks like you're drawing, but at this level it might actually be good since they wont have a clue.

hand 2: also bet bigger. half pot c-bet against 2 on a drawy board is usually not enough.

also don't be afraid to give up on a hand when you dont improve on flop. I usually don't play my lower pairs past turn, unless like in hand 1 we have a good draw/fold equity. I dont play Full Ring, but you'll see these guys show down crazy hands at these limits. Value bet hard

Your not raising big enough preflop. In hand one there were three limpers and you only raised to 4xbb. And in hand two there even more limpers and you only raised to 5xbb. Your standard raise size should be somewhere around 4xbb + 1bb per limper.

And fwiw, it's not as bad limping with hands such as small/med pps, suited connectors, etc, when there is already limpers in. The "don't limp" mantra focuses mainly on open limping (being the first person to limp). In which case, it's usually better to raise and gain intiative, and have an added chance to win the pot by everyone folding.

I still prefer raising to isolate and to make a believable cbet on a A high or K high board, FWIW....although at $2 and $5 that is prolly counterproductive....

I agree cardsman. But this is a situation that probably doesn't arise very often outside of the micros, that's why I'm a little confused on the situation. And I think even if we raise it up rather big we will end up getting a few callers, which would still make it hard to take it down without hitting.
