Hand 7 is always a tough spot to deal with, but consider this. When the chip leader open raises from UTG, you should generally give him strength. Chip leaders become bullies mostly when IP or closer to the bubble. With that said, I would give full credit to the villain when he raises from UTG. His range is probably close to 99+, AQo+ AJs+. There are three hands in that range (not including JJ) that you have dominated (99, TT, AJ). Everything else is either a coin flip or you are crushed.
In spots like this, I like to call (with position) and evaluate on the flop. It still could be hard to get away from a hand like JJ if it comes a low dry flop, but if any A or K comes on the flop, this is generally any easy fold to a continuation bet.
Jacks are tough to play, they look awesome, but there are alot of hands we run into trouble with. I only push all in w/ jacks if I am certain I have at worst a coin flip, and shoving over an UTG raise does not give us that assurance.
I would like to hear the input of some of the vets on this hand.
Hand 11 is a very interesting hand. I like how you played it, and it obviously worked out great for you. But I wonder if that is the best way to play that hand. (i.e. should we be leading the flop)
Can someone with more experience look at hand 11 for myself and OP?
With JJ I could have just flat called and gone to the flop. Hind sight I prob should have. Ill have to be more aware next time..
Hand 11...is just a standard semi bluff. If he flat calls I'm pushing the turn no matter what card.
Hand 11 is good. The problem with leading is if you get raised you have no idea what your outs are, but you know you have too many to fold. And whatever he has he can't fold once he raises 1/2 his stack or so. Playing this way we still get the money in vs big hands but we can fold some hands like a bare 8.
If opp is passive then leading out is better and certainly leading the flop vs anyone is not bad. This looks like a flop that missed us so I would expect a lot of people to bet air here.
H7- I might flat call here, you are in very early position to push over.
H9- fold. Why raise in middle position with this garbage when the blinds are so low??
H12- NH
H15- No!!!!!! A6 is too easily dominated and you are UTG!
H16- NH
H18- push not necessary, make it 2 1/2 BB if you wanna raise it., this way u can get away from it if u need too. You are still deep here.
H19- No! No! No! A4 from EP, you push 20 BBs????? there are way too many people left to act that can have you dominated, and you still have plenty of chips.
H21 limp in if you have to play this.
H23- Push, you dont have chips to make a 3XBB raise.
H24- same thing.
H25- You have to call here. I know you dont want to with A7, but thats why you shouldnt have made a 3xBB raise. You are gettiung 3:1 on this call, even if he has you dominated, you have odds to call. repeat to yourself: "there is no such thing as "my tourney life" !!
H26- I might shove this, there is alot of dead money in the pot, but a fold is fine too.
H27- care ful with 33 from middle position!!!! on the button I shove this, but here its just too vulnerable to push.
H28 you have to call, good call.
My main critique of your play here is raising Ax in EP: This is a leak, get out of this habit. Maybe from late position, and when you are very short, but other than that, you must fold these hands- they are too easily dominated. I would rather push 8Q than A4 when Im stealing, simple because you are more likely to be live with 8Q, A4 is much more vulnerable. Also, when you have odds, you must call. Like I said, there is no " tourney life", in these turbos, you must gain a dominant stack, and that will come partly from calling when you have to.
