Straight Flush Draw, Did I make the right call?

I didn't think to copy the hand down while I was at the table so, I'll just give you the rundown

~It's late in a 2,222 freeroll
~We're down to the top 20
~Blinds at 3000-6000
I got 54,000
I'm on the BB w/ QK of da hearts
All Folds then Mr. 250,000 chips(Made chip leader after some questionable calls) calls. SB folds
I check.
FLop:
Jh Ah 3c

Mr. Big man Puts out 50,000(or so, puts me all in anyway)
A few seconds pause, I CALL
He's got A4
FLop-Turn= Not a ten or a heart, I'm out.

All I wanna know is, did I do it right?

I don't think so I'm afraid. The chances of you hitting a flush are 1/4. Only other real out you've got that I can think of is the straight draw, there are four cards that give you that so you can add those to your outs.

Yet your only getting even money from the pot.

So you're still out I think. Needed to be a 50:50 chance to call, also chip leader is unlikely to be risking that many chips that late with air which is effectively what he would have had to be doing for the call to make sense.

I'm still learning, but I think that's about the sum of it!

lol jk, ok, I can respect that., I saw all the outs flush and straight, And as I stated bfore, He had made some questionable calls, and had JUST gained that chip lead. I Figured my outs for the Ace, but I kept in the back of my head the chance that he had a jack, adding a few more outs.

Anyway, no tilt here, I got seven bucks off a freeroll.

You had M=6, meaning you were in desperate trouble. Best play, push pre-flop.

As played you checked the flop right?
you should have open pushed, you have fold equity + you are favourite against most hands.

Lucky, you are almost right here! He has 12 outs (9 for the flush and 4for the straight, but take one off because you can only count the ten of hearts once) so the chances of hitting on THE TURN are about 1/4, but then he has another chance of about 1/4 of hitting on the river.

You are 50/50 against his hand, if he folds any percentage of the time... it's a good play.
If he doesnt have the ace, say he has the jack, you are quite the favorite.

Yes and let me explain why,
Chip leader would've called the BB w/ a great hand.(I'd seen him do it)
At this point I didn't want to get into w/ him since he would've called (I suspected), and I had a little more than half the avg. chip stack. I thought I would check and see the flop, if no hit AT ALL I would've bailed on any bet, and wait for my opp.

Am I way off here?(Please do tell, I'm here to be a better player.)

About your question preflop, i would suggest getting pokerstove, its free and this is where these numbers come from

Lets say he calls you 100% of the time
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 63.400% 62.41% 00.99% 5236247160 83230284.00 { KQs }
Hand 1: 36.600% 35.61% 00.99% 2987581872 83230284.00 { random }

Then you would be getting your money in as a 63% favorite against his range. ALTHOUGH, it does depend on how everyone else is doing too. While you do have a m of 6, what may be more important as we approach final table time is what q is. For instance, i fold this preflop if we have this guy, you, then everyone else has a 1bb stack. This arguement can be used for checking the bb, but i still probably only do so maybe 33% of the time. I agree that you should wtf push the flop though, and i think this is a very easy call as i cant see him doing this with any hand that has outs if you hit your hand such as trips or two pair. Still a newb, so take that into consideration when thinking about this.

betting is always better than just calling. Your opponent has a chance to fold if you're the one betting.

Good advice so far....

I'd either push preflop (first choice) or definitely on the flop (if checked pf).

if chipleader is limp/calling hands better than KQs, bless him. MTTs aren't my thang, so i don't know when it's appropriate to avoid risk vrs maximize EV. But I'm still just gonna raise, and cbet most flops.

Well A deffinate thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind for a similar scenario, BETTING, better than CALLING. Give 'em a chance to fold, and he may very well have folded w/ such weak ace. TY.
