Suited connectors vs. high pocket pair

Wondering what you think of this hand. The only reason I limped with this instead of folding is that it was going to be my last hand of the session. Villain is a 15/2 reg, so I put him on the hand he had, which was KK.

1. Bad to limp the 65s? Again, I almost never do it.
2. Decent implied odds to call the raise? I liked the two big stacks. But should my sc's be bigger than 65 to justify a call?
3. Flop play? I tend to think OK.
4. No need to comment on the turn... I should have bet out I think. I was hoping to check/raise, but no go.
5. River bet size... do you like bigger? Again I'm thinking it was pretty close since I got a call.

you got 18:1 on your preflop call. or 16:1 if you include your limp, not bad. I think you could have raised more ($8) and get called by the same range of hands but given the return on investment you probably did fine with betting $6.

I'm not sure tho that I like anything before the river :) The flop call feels dubious with another player to act even if he has already checked but when I get to 25 I may think different.

I don't see why your SC should be bigger, you are not playing for one pair hands, although I wouldnt really want them smaller.

I do this sometimes in weak/loose/fishy live games. I tell myself it's for balance and to prevent myself from looking too too tight. In reality it probably wouldn't matter much if I folded.

Outside of maybe a limp on the button I never play suited connectors for straight value anymore. It's always plan B. Button/CO steals, BN/CO floats, 3-bet bluffs and 4-bet bluffs is what these hands are good for. My win-rate made a nice jump once I discovered this.

Preflop, the only thing I don't like is your position. Unless, as fnord mentioned, you are making a place (basically ignoring the value of your hand and just using it as backup), then you should really only play suited connectors in position, and mostly as cheap as possible preflop.

Postflop, I think top pair + no kicker is in trouble a lot there. I don't really like calling the bet, as you're not getting nearly a good enough price for a 9-out draw with half the outs bad.

Once you hit a clean out, you definitely need to jam the pot.
