Let's say you and one opponent are full stacked and go to a flop. You hit tptk and bet out and get called. Same action on the turn. On the river you hit your set and it's a non-draw board, so you are almost certain you have the best hand. Do you push all in, or make a smaller value bet fearing the push will induce a fold? What factors influence your decision?
Need reads on villain. Also need bet sizes. Also called trips not a set. Bet the most amount villain will call before folding is the easy answer.
Reads are huge here.
It was really frustrating for when people responded to my threads with this, but the fact is there are a hell of a lot of variables when we make these decisions, and you're better of learning the intricacies of the variables than cookie-cutter responses that only work when the variables are aligned correctly.
I generally shove though. ;)
If you decide you're prepared to go all the way with your hand, and this decision should be made on the flop (but shouldn't be set in stone [things can change your plan]) then you need to aim to get his stack in three streets. At micro stakes I'd usually be prepared to play for stacks with TPTK versus your average player.
