aa vs 40bb

check-folding turn feels horrible, but the only other options mean a showdown (note villains stack size!) cos bet-fold is out of mind given villain stack-pot ratio.

Thoughts? is anything I beat calling?

In these situations I like to give villain some rope to hang himself on. You'd be amazed how many shorties will just push with after you bet basically half their stack thinking they have any FE...

What's all this talk of folding?

Your flop bet size is bad, there should be no question that you want to get it in vs a shorty here. IMO results oriented.

cool - I'm checking that some of my standard plays are in fact standard.
I thought it was... interesting insight into implied odds for shorties though

$5-6 on the flop sets villain up perfectly for a pot-sized or less push on turn...

also, your flop bet size is terrible. if you bet the flop to like $5, it makes turn bet size much better.

You have the nuts + your flop bet size allowed for more hands to continue + this guy is short + this guy most likely sucks = easy felt

He calls with tons of hands that you crush: T9, JJ, QQ, KK, AT. He could easily call with other strange crap like JT, QJ, 88, A9, etc.

As others have said: pre-flop should be $2, flop should be $4-$5, turn should be at least $9 if you size your previous bets correctly (a shove is fine, too). As played, turn shove is fine to make sure OESD is getting terrible odds.

Villain only has 1.3 times the pot, so a pot sized bet is no different than a shove. Just shove.
