Does anyone know how many levels they are, and be able to name them?
There are infinite levels and everyone can name every single one except the ones above their current level. ;p
Let's see if I have been paying attention:
Level 1 - How good are my cards?
Level 1.5 - How good do they think my cards are?
Level 2 - How good are opponents cards?
Level 2.1 - Can I beat his cards ? (I think this is a sub level as sometimes I screw this up ;)
0 is how good are my cards
1 is What does my opponent have.
bluffing is level 2, what does he think I have. This is why many players have problems with convincing bluffs. Villains are on level 0 and your running level two. You can only ever play one level above your opponent. DUCY
Would three be.....what does my opp think I think he has....or is this just level two but in different way of putting it( pretty sure it is)....but not certain.
0) What do I have (Callingstation)Your cards
1) What does he have (hand reading)His cards
2) What does he think I have (Bluff, slowplay)Your cards
3) What does he think I think he has (what is he representing and manipulating to control your hand reading )His thoughts about your thoughts
4) What does he think, I think he thinks I have (Your cards) Blah blah blah
This thread may be helpful. I may not have articulated it as well as I could have (particularly with the actions Hero would take) but hopefully the replies clarify things.

most pros would probably say they think up to about level 3.
Daniel Negreanu says there are 3 main levels that everyone thinks at, and you should aspire to get to level 3 yourself, which is "what do I think that he thinks that I have?". However, there are higher levels, just 99% of people never get there.
Starting Br=$40
Current Br=$578045
Holy cow is that for real?
Thx for the clarification.
I was very surprised to read that most pros aspire to just level 3 because that means everyone at FTR, even those in the BC, are there or thereabouts, yet many are going to be well off pro level (espesh those residing in the BC) . As a result, I just can't believe it.
Also, as it seems the levels are never ending, convoluted with an extra "he thinks I think he thinks...." then I would assume there is a very good chance of pros making life very hard for themselves and over complicating things - much like Vizzini in The Princess Bride. I think Daniel Negreabu fell victim to this in an episode of HSP where he folded the nut flush to Todd Brunson's fresh air.
If it was I wouldn't be here on this website. Instead I'd be knee deep in cheap hookers all day long.Quote:
