This guy was pretty loose all game long, I probably shouldn't have just flat called his UTG raise with this hand.

#1) I don't mind calling that flop, but make a real raise on the flop, make it $1 to $1.20. You'd have still lost here, but that's not the issue. Don't minraise. As played, I'm folding to that push to all but the worst of maniacs.

Actually, after looking again, PF you actually might fold as you have several players behind you, or raise for isolation and to get position postflop.

#2) Although I have a hard time folding against many $5nl players (who tend to think AK or any pocket pair is worth an allin), I expect to lose fairly often here as AA or KK is probably the most common hands they'll have.

hand 1: calling here isnt bad because your on the button and he is raising from the CO, not UTG. You said villain was pretty loose all game, so his pf raising range here is pretty wide open. On the flop you have a good hand and im definitly raising, but you need to make it atleast 3x his raise. and after that im stacking off with TP + GS since youve put like 1/3 your stack in already.

As a general rule, dont minraise ever. There are places for it, but until you can explain a good reason why youre doing it, just dont.

hand2: i dont think i could ever fold this to 2nl donks, but you are technically 250bbs deep and villain pushes for 10x your raise. I think you can fold here probly.

KK hand: you said it right. Ughhh. i think you have to call given stakes and pot odds.

KT hand: played fine. You could check behind the flop, but i like betting and repping the Ace with the limper pre.

AJ hand: i play it the same all day.

KK: pot odds and stakes says you do have to call, but...you can be almost certain one of these guys has the ten, people at these stakes dont just bet big and reraise all in on the turn for no reason at all. In that case, you have a 0% chance to win the hand so you should actually fold. Or maybe not, im still learning :)

AJ you just got unlucky there, anyone that calls with 54 in that spot is just silly.

oh, I knew they had it. Or at least was 98% sure but had too much money in the pot to not call in case they were drawing or bluffing and I could have hit a 10 for a better straight.

If they had bigger stacks I think it would have been a clearer fold.

Is checking behind here ok? Or should I have value bet this river. I feel like I played the hand to get some value out of the river, and failed to follow through. :(

No read on villain, this is early in tonight's session and I've never seen this player before that i know of. I'll check PT and be sure.

Whats your thinking when you fire the double barrel?

i fire the river on the AQ hand. AK is pretty much the only Ace your worried about anyways, and his range is more weighted toward a medium A like A8-AT type, so i think you get value out of a 1/2 pot bet at these stakes.

Also consider checking behind the turn and value betting or snap calling a river bet by villain.

actually you seem way ahead of the standard 2nl villain here and i think you get 3 streets of value alot here making that a slightly better play.

Here is one that I wish I had folded. I made the call based on how much money was going into the pot and my hand alone, not thinking about what the villains might have had. Can I fold this? I feel like I should have.

No, you dont have odds to call with the OESD. You wont hit often enough to make up for the times you lose in that spot.

What you've done is called a semi-bluff. Its basically a bluff, but you could hit on the river, and if you do your hand might be more hidden than if you'd checked turn. You basically want him to fold though. The decision you need to make is, would you prefer to bluff here, or check and hope he checks as well, or bets little enough to give you correct odds to call and draw to your straight.

Either one is fine, but you should be thinking before betting about whether thats the best move or not. Dont automatically fire a 2nd barrel just because someone called your c-bet, have a reason for doing it.

Why, oh why did I not value bet the river. :(

This player was fairly loose, raising a good number of hands and 3 betting somewhat loosely. Dont have his exact stats, sorry.

ok I'm not going to play $10 NLHE, no matter how tempting, anymore until I have at least 30 buy ins for it. I run fairly well, but just play too tentatively compared to the $5 game.

I think your hand reading needs work and you probably could benefit from mixing your value bets with more high FE bluffs.

Cool thanks, definitely stuff I'm working on. Especially the FE bluffs, I dont do NEARY enough of this yet and honestly am only starting to try and understand FE. If there is a good post or thread discussing the idea lemme know.


Here are a couple from today. In the first one, villain is running 57/14/.43 over a few dozen hands at the table. I put him on a drawing hand or a weaker A (or both) after the flop and wasn't surprised to see him stack off with what he showed up with, but still. I don't know if I like getting it all in with this hand as played. Should I like it in this spot?

It turned out well, and I think my check/call on the flop and turn kept him thinking I was drawing or holding a small/medium PP and then I assume he smelt a bluff on my turn raise (at least I like to hope I set him up this way :D ). Obviously I think he can have A10 alot here, but once I committed the turn raise I felt I had to go all the way with it.

So, if I am going to get the money in anyway in a spot like this do I still want to try and get it in faster? Or was it ok as played despite risking him hitting his draw or even spiking trips or two pair worth the chance that this maniac would get his dough in with a crappy hand on the river.

Normally in this kind of situation I take the initiative post flop, but honestly think that gives away too much of the strength of my hand sometimes and at these micro stakes I feel like I'm losing alot of money on my better hands by causing too many folds too early in the hand.

Stop putting your stack behind flush draws on paired boards with very little money in the pot. Also, I would generally check that flop.

Bank roll is moving up, I make fewer mistakes than I ever have and I've just been posting hands where I know I played like a noob to get a reality check and some feedback.
