Downswings: What are you really upset about?
I lost 3.3k today 4 tabling 600NL for about 1800 hands.
I'm not upset about it though.
In the past i would have been upset. If i was 9 tabling today i might have been upset too. I think we all know in the back of our minds what makes us so angry and upset when we lose some money. I'm just going to put it out there:
1) We subconsciously think we lost because we're not that good at poker.
2) We subconsciously feel we played badly.
3) We don't know whether or not we played badly and it's frustrating (and i think heavy multi-tabling can fuel this a bit)
Today there was none of that. I played well. I made a couple of mistakes but i played some good fucking poker. And i'm not upset about the money i lost, i'm not frustrated, and it's because none of the above points are true for me.
PS if you heavily multi-table a lot, i suggest trying 4 tabling, or even 2 tabling for a bit and see how you like it. I don't think i've 4 tabled since fucking JULY, and it's long overdue. Even if you know you're profit is going to be better multitabling, i think it is a helpful exercise to improve. (Thanks kingofcards for pointing this out in his interview)
