HU vs. Weirdo fish - Do I suck at HU?
There are quite a few hands in this, but I genuinely think it's worth it.
This guy first found his way to my buddylist about 10 days ago when at 50NL 6max he stacked off with 77 on a T823r or something, which I felt to be bad even for a fish. I managed to play with him at 6max once after that and came to the conclusion that he was bad (but not predictable bad either). He started popping up at 100NL HU and in the spirit of underrolled GAMBOOL I felt I had to give him a go.
I basically know fuck all about HU. I've tried to give you enough hands for reads without hitting the tl;dr buttons. I certainly make a ton of nonstandard plays but I hope I've given you enough hands to justify them (and hopefully let you find the correct play)
Global reads:
- Rarely PFRs
- Bluffs a lot
- Doesn't really know how to valuetown
- Sees waaaay too many flops OOP
- Folds to cbets a lot for some odd reason (considering how much he sucks)
- Either turns made hands into bluffs or doesn't know WTF he's doing
- Loves mindonking, folds to a raise about 70% of the time, but there's definitely some type of cycle to as to whether he does it with bluffs or good hands
- His lines became a bit more transparent as time went on - whether this was me adjusting or him gaining a thought process, I don't know.
- Doesn't like calling down, likes bluffing (and possibly re-bluffing)
I felt that because he didn't call that much that my main EV in this match would come from bluffcalling than from valuetowning.
