whats more +EV for beginner MTT'r?

So last night I played in one of the 70 FPP turbo qualifiers on stars with leftover FPP's I was not using and won a seat into the Sunday Hundred Grand. Ive got a little MTT experience but (as a regular full ring limit player) Im pretty much a nit borderline pile at MTT's so far. Is it more +EV for me to unregister and take the $11 for the bankroll or to play for the enjoyment and possible cash?

Cons of playing:
negetive ROI on small buy in MTT's currently played
yet to make a final table
limited MTT experience and knowledge

Pros of playing:
Will thuroughly enjoy the experience playing in a higher buyin tournament
possibility of cashing for much better bankroll boost

i won the same thing as you coupla weeks backs. Was gonna play then saw that there were 16k + players (tourney infact had 20k players, I found out after asking on FTR).

I decided i didn't have time ( think 7-8hrs for final table)....but i will playing in it soon.

Depends really, $11 isn't that much for my bankroll, but if it is for you maybe take the tourney dollars.

if you want to play for fun, go ahead.

If you want to make the correct long term move for your poker career, take the money.

Its not really a higher buyin tourney at all, its 11 dollar buyin. It just has a huge payout because 20k people play in it.

more background stats;
current bankroll (for MTT's) = $50.... so its 1/6th my entire roll
-regular stomping grounds (or sucking grounds) are the $1 and $2 MTT's stars runs almost every hour. Whether thats even a good strategy for dabbling in MTT's Ill leave to another discussion.

Understandably its playing wayyy out of my bankroll and I wouldnt even buy-in to that level of tournament with my roll, but is this the sort of opportunity that affords "taking shots" or should I continue to plug and improve my game at the lower MTT's before I even consider it?

With a BR of $50, I'd take the 20% increase to BR myself :).

There is no mathematical justification for playing if that's what you want. A 400nl player taking a shot a 600 nl will experience a similar game and stakes. And they have a realistic expectation of winning, because you often win playing cash. This is a tourney with 20,000 people in it, you are a dog to cash and a huge dog to do much better than getting the 10 bucks you already have. Playing a 10 dollar SNG would make more sense.

If you were so somehow make the FT, you'll be playing for 15-20x more money than you're used to and you will probably make a ton of terrible mistakes. I speak from much playing under rolled experience. It's hard enough to continue to make good decisions at FTs for tourneys you have rolls for. And squandering the amazing run of cards you need to FT this puppy (remember this thing has a LOT more people in it that the WSOP with a much faster structure) will just really suck.

Why would you want to sell it, are you never going to play another tournament on Stars ever again?

This is prolly the newbest tournament statement ever but I assumed the T$ were just for use at the buy-in level they were earned from. I guess thats dumb reflecting now since they accumulate. I officially end this awesome post, lol.
