how do i figure the odds i need to call versus my pot equity

Ok situations like being 10.5-1 to hit a gs a fairly simple but lets say i have hand X and hand x has a 48.7% equity versus the villans shoving range. for simplicity lets ass that it will be HU what is the formula for deceding if the pot is big enough to call? In a spot like this i need a quick math formulato help me.[/u]

if you are getting it allin the your call has to be a smaller fraction of the total pot than your equity. e.g. you both have 50bb stacks (at the start of the hand). If he shoves and you call the pot is 100bb. Since you have 48.7% equity your call needs to be less than 48.7bbs. If its more you fold.

You wont be anywhere near this accurate at the table though. Usually its more like... hmmm well im getting 3:1 (25%) and I think im going to win about 1/3 of the time so i call. If its close enough that decimals make a difference then it doesnt really matter what you do.

so if the pot was 100 bucks and it cost me 46 bucks to call and we assume that my read on his range is correct a call would have a positive expectation?
