worried about the nuts, am i a total wimp?

in these 2hands i didnt push although i had the 2nd nuts... I'm pretty sure both are badly played, please teach me :wink:

Villain is kinda tight weak, folding a lot to raises and 3bets, havent seen him get to the river/raise without a big hand. I dont know why i saw him on JT on this hand.

hand 1: first off, i wouldnt make it a habit of calling peoples raises pre w/ suited 2 gappers. SC's are ok to to this with some but until you are more experienced dont put yourself into marginal situations postflop. As played calling the flop is fine but if your going to lead the turn, lead for $5 or so. $2 into $7 does nothing except make you exploitable if youre always betting small with your strongest hands. Bet out like you know villain has the case 10 and wants to get his stack in. Again, make a real river bet. $5 into $12 looks week like you want a cheap showdown so when villain raises and you have the effective nuts, you need to push.

hand 2: there are times where you need to worry about an Ace high flush vs your K high flush, this isnt one of them. Villain has a Q here 100% of the time. I would raise the turn as played because you dont want villain to draw to a one card flush if he has the Ac (he obv. doesnt here). I would also lead the river for 2/3 pot but check/shove isnt bad either. Check/calling however is bad.

You really dont have anything to worry about in either of these hands. You'll come across situations where you run K high flush vs A high flush, but you played both of these hands so passively that villain has no real way to put you on as strong as a hand as you have.

Thank you for your explanation, i understand everything you said, and agree.

In hand 1, though, i call him because i have been able to float him several times and have seen him play real weak postflop so even though i have a hand i dont usually play, i have position and may be able to take the pot away from him? I have done it several times against him
Is this getting too frisky?
I lead the turn weak as i dont want to lose him, but i see where that is wrong, as you say.

hand 1: yah don't call these kind of hands to raises. As played, raise the flop. If you're not raising the flop, bet WAY harder on turn. Your goal is to get it in on this board.. so bet $4-5 on turn, and bet $12 on river. If you bet stronger on all streets, it won't even be a question of whether or not you should be raising over his raise, cause it'll already be all in.

hand 2: If you're not gonna trust your flush when you spike it on the turn, then why bother calling the flop raise to begin with? You can't be results oriented. You may have lose this hand, but 80-90% of the time you will have the best hand here. If you dont try to get it in everytime you have this hand, you're leaving a ton of value on the table.

Real advice to OP:

Thin value betting is rarely wrong. Grow some balls and do it. Don't worry about the money and instead ask yourself "can i make a bet in which my opponent will call with worse 50% of the time or greater?" If the answer is yes, most likely you should bet.

1- raise flop, bet more on turn, as played i dont think river is terrible.

2-this is really bad. lead turn and river or c/r river.
