Top pair on low flop vs. aggro

Villain is 23/18 and aggro over smallish sample. He pushed me off an overpair earlier in the ssession in a 3 player pot. I didn't know how aggro he was at that time. He isn't very active, but is aggro when he's in there.

My image is TAG if not nitty as I haven't seen many cards at this table. Probably 18/15/2 on a HUD.

usually i fold the flop, sometimes i dont, in which case i would probably play it the same as you. did he showdown when he pushed you off an overpair? folding flop is prolly std cuz ur hand blows and most turns are going to be terrible, luckily yours was half decent. if you were deeper i'd like a river shove.

it s marginal and you don't really have a solid read yet so I don't think there is or should be a consensus about this hand

your line is ok, as is folding the flop and sometimes 3-betting the flop. also raising turn is fine...

it's a great card since you're really now only scared of 67 and 44 (usually this type of player 3-bets from the blinds with 88... also you've got one etc...). Raising the turn will get him off marginal similar hands quite a bit (shit like 78) and will protect vs his FD hands, but most of those are combo draws.

After he checks the river to you, I suspect he has 67 or a low flush and is scared you have a boat or hit a higher flush (laugh at me please ;) )

The more I look at it the more I like raising this turn vs an aggressive player who is likely to be raising lots of low flops after they call from the blinds, both for value, fold equity and protection. Sry if this is neither here nor there but without a solid read of his preflop cold-calling range it's almost impossible to be sure.

Some ppl love calling marginal stuff from the blinds (shit like ATo, JTo, KJ etc) and CR lots of low flops. Some ppl will only show up with SC's and low pp's here...

This was my reasoning for the call. He can't put me on much of a hand here, so CRing with any 2 seems profitable. I did not want to 3bet the flop for fear that I make this a bloated pot with a marginal holding. Thoughts?
His turn lead is what seems so strong since I called the CR. I wouldn't have called the turn lead w/o adding the FD and noting his prior aggression.

Bair, no showdown with the overpair hand. As a matter of fact he hasn't shown down in any big pots yet.
Also what am I repping w/ a river shove? A boat? I don't like that play. I'm not sure I can push off enough hands vs. this type opponent to make it +EV. I think the river is an easy check behind. I have bluff catcher hand and missed all available draws.
What do others think about river or can you encourage me to shove it, Bair?

I play it exactly the same. Though, a flop fold probably isn't bad. If you get to the turn, I think its fine.

I don't think there's much point turning your hand into a bluff to rep the rivered flush.

I think its played pretty good.

For me it depends on the % he calls pre-flop & the % he folds to cbet.
(also the % of time he raises cbet of course)

(if he calls less than 7% & folds more than 65% ballpark figure, I might let this go on the flop.)

I guess you would be folding to a river lead no doubt though?

I wouldn't bluff the river either, he could easily have a 5 in this spot &
I wouldn't expect him to fold it/much else that beats you, maybe 99.
