Nut Straight on Button NLHE $400

I'm in a 2/4 NLHE cash game. My image is tight, maybe a little weak. The stack sizes are as follows: SB $400, BB $250, UTG $600, UTG+1 and MP folded. MP+1 $575, CO $725, Hero on Button $600.

I've been pretty card dead, and when 2 players limp I decide to limp with 870s. ( I know it's not a good play). SB completes, BB checks.

I get rewarded when the flop comes :4c: :5h: :6s:
Better yet there's some interesting action in front. The SB leads for a little over 1/2 pot, the BB calls, one fold and last villain raises to $40.

This pot wasn’t raised preflop. I’ve been playing a little tight-weak. What’s my play with the nut straight on a rainbow board with two bets in front?

flat-call. they are eager to bet, so let them bet.

if you raise how often are they folding?
Id like to take another card and get all the money in on a non paired turn because they then cant fold their sets.
At the same time, if opp isnt folding a set on the flop i put another bet in.

i'd call flop and turn unless turn is some HUGE bet, i'd shove to a big bet on the turn

I agree, I think a call is the right play. If my image were different a smooth call may shut everyone down, but with a my image I'm just another tight-weak player calling on a board full of straight draws.

Two things happen by smooth calling, and I like both outcomes. 1) My call helps to motivate a third raise from one of the blinds, possibly a player who has a weak two pair or maybe even just a pair, a draw, and some balls. 2) I build a substantial pot with my flat call, as it motivates one or two calls behind. Now I'm looking at a pot with $150 -$200 on the turn, and there are only 9 cards I really hate to see, with another 6 that I'd rather not see. That sounds like a lot of cards until you consider that the actions suggests that several of the 9 pairing cards are probably out of play, as are a couple of the 6 cards that weaken my straight. I think I can safely assume 3-4 out of the six cards in my opponents hands fit the bill, dropping the total scare card count to 12 or so.

At better than 3-1 odds that I'll see a safe turn, and with plenty of chips behind for almost everyone, I think I can justify a slowplay. If my straight wasn't top two in the hole, if the stacks were shallow, or if my image was different I might play this faster, but as things stand I'm electing to simply call.

NUTs = easy-to-play. All that matters is how to extract more money from the second best hand, so flat call and get all in on the safe turn if possible.
instead, i'd rather you post some hands where you gotta make some tough decisions with relatively weak holdings. :wink:

Flipping is easy. It's tough to get money out of opponents when you know you've got the nuts.

I hate flat-calling. Any 2345678 sucks. Some overs might scare action. Raise now.

I agree with Dean. This is not a place you're gonna get action from marginal hands. Get it in vs big hands that are drawing to or will shutdown on half the turns. Make your opponents think maybe you have 77.

cards 2 through 8 suck for at least one of the four of us.
