Poker room selection for super microskates ?

Hi,

I recently started to play some online poker at PS, choosing PS mostly because I wanted to deposit only 20-30$. Now I'm currently playing 2NL ring games, using a very simple "Wait for monsters and then go fishing" strategy.

I was just wondering if there was any difference beetwen the skill level of the average player from the most popular Poker rooms when playing these super micro skates levels ? Also, what about SNGs ? It is my understanding that PS SNGs are tighter than let's say, PP microskates SNGs. Am I right ?

I've never played those stakes, but I can't imagine they can be that tight on stars. 25NL used to be a touch tighter than other sites when i played it, but it was still easily beatable and there are a bunch of tables to choose from. I've played fair amount of SnGs there at <10$ and they are very very soft, especially the multitable ones.

I'd hold off depositing on any more sites till you have enough to take full advantage of the sign up bonuses.

last I checked most sites don't go below 10NL.

You know, tighter sng's aren't the worst thing. Variance can already be a bitch, taking some out of the sng's isn't a bad thing.

As for sites, I'd stick with Stars for now but get the heck outta there after say $50nl if you play cash much.

IMO the tighter the SnG the greater the variance since you become reliant on push/ fold which is very swingy.

hmmmm

loose tourneys: If you run card bad you're in push/fold and retard call with anything, means you busto a lot. Even if you go up big early you still have to win flips at the end (you can't steal to maintain).

tight tourneys: Steal, steal steal. Problem is if your villains are catching hands you go busto early.

I think in a tight tourney you're more able to use poker skillz, where as a loose tourney you're playing your cards only. How does this manifest itself in variance? I have no idea.

Max,

pretty much all of the megamicros will be poor players. i dont know how much difference there is between different sites.

however, i think most will agree that when you get up to 25NL+, the players are still pretty bad, but a definite difference between sites starts to appear.

what would i do? gee, i'm glad you asked.

1) continue to read/post here and get better.
2) watch the vids on microstakes, if you havent.
3) build up a bankroll at Stars (since you started there) to at least a couple hundred bucks. then, start looking around at the sites offering bonuses. (imo, you tend to play a little better when chasing a bonus) avoid fulltilt if you ever plan on playing for rakeback. once you sign up w/o it, they make it difficult to impossible to get rakeback.
4) once you are "looking around" for a new/different home, watch the "flop percentages" in the main lobbies. that will tell you where the looser games are. and stay there, if you like playing against poor players, which equals making money.

not that stars is a bad site, thats where most of my time is spent, but there are looser sites out there. mostly ones that us americans can no longer access.

SNG Boss - Prima - Pacific (rake\fees can be higher though)

Stars isn't that tough for 25nl and under, but the micros are soft everywhere IMO. Build a roll then bonus whore it a bit getting RB at every site you can.

As far as I am aware, skating is not allowed in any poker-rooms, online or B&M.

Nope. I've played quarter of a million hands on 8 or 9 different sites and I can honestly say that I have not come across CONSITENTLY fishier or tougher games at any given stake. At the moment, indeed, I'd have to say Stars $50 *feels* significantly easier than, say, Crypto, but I also know that in a fortnight's time the opposite may well *feel* true.

Big differences in site player quality are a myth. For the benefit of this thread, at the microsest limits there is no difference, and they shouldn't fret about it. Play at Stars because it has the best facilities, support and biggest choice of tables.
