calling and raising ranges against this guy...

villain is literally the webster's definition of crazy maniac. he is, over 55 hands, 90/50/3. thats the easy part. however, he adjusts his bet/raise sizes to the villain he plays. i noticed that against the loose-passive to his immediate right, he raised really soft...minraises and such. however, against me, he came over for half his stack.

i am just wondering with what ranges do you push pre? or call biggish raises? or 3bet oop?

of course, the obvious answer might be to leave the table after stacking him...which is what i opted for, but not right away. he reloaded and kept on pushing. it worked a bit because he built his stack from $12 to $56 in 3 orbits, but i never saw him showdown other than against my set, and one other time where he had crap.

i just didnt think this was a guy to gambool with, as i may never see him again. if he were a reg i had 300 hands on, that would be different.

I would just wait for a better spot againt this guy than with K-Jo. I would probably stick my stack in here with A-Q/8-8.

thx. table selection, and even more so seat selection, has been a real focus of mine again lately.

keeping full stacks on my right and watching to make sure they are loose is the best thing i can do for profitability. and, it makes my decisions sooooo much easier. i get priced in for all sorts of draws by the loosies, and i am well hidden behind said loosies from the aggros. ideally, i get the rocks to my left as well, and my aggression with draws and blind stealing balances out so well my numbers look rather semi-loose while i'm playing rather TAGgish.

and just open my pockets and let the money flow in. at least, thats how its supposed to work. ;)

Anyway, I think you want to be pushing not calling - give villain a chance to fold and AF3 there will be flop action regardless.
If you think villain is able to fold pre-flop then pairs 77+, ATs, AJ, AQ, AK are probably worth pushing. I'm still iffy on small edges so I likely limit it to TT+, AQ, AK though. Wouldn't mind the chance to see a flop cheaply against this villain - but guess that's unlikely...

People are folding hands like 77, and AJ against this guy?

i'm sure they were. however, my question was because EVERYTHING in my range is ahead of his "raising range" by half. so, i was curious, because...sure i may be ahead of his range, but i may not have position post flop (we arent pushing everything pf) and he may wake up with a hand (and i dont want to take that chance with everything i play pf).

we, obv, need to open our pushing/3betting range, but how much? i cant do it with KT, its just too open...for me. but, does that lose a lot of value? and, hes not a regular, that i've noticed, so i dont know when i'll see him again. and its not like i can just go find another 90/50...they arent super common because they dont last long.

btw, AJ, i prolly push. i dont want to see a flop or have to make a decision on one because he literally plays any two. i may push over with any A because i want to win the hands ui with high card when we both miss the flop.

actually, this is a good situation to review/remember pelion's post about the equity you have with 22, TT, AA, AK, 67s, etc....i think i just answered my own question.

damn, i thought that would be just an exercise, not something that could almost literally be transferred to a table against a villain. hahaha.
