This is a stupid question, i'm embarrassed to ask.
When people say you should have 300bb at a particular limit, is bb big blind or big bet?

umm, maybe they mean 30 buy-ins. 300 BBs is only 3 buy-ins. Are you playing limit or no limit?
Limit
when talking BB for limit it's big bets, eg 1/2 would mean you want $600 min but that is still only around 95% confidence to avoid ruin.
when talking NL people usually talk in number of buy-in's for a given level.
when talking about winrate/100 most use pokertracker convention which is also big bets or 2x big blind so NL players will give there winrate usually as 4.4ptBB/100 @ $50NL meaning $4.40/100 while a 0.50/1.00 LHE player would be able to just say 4.4BB/100
first off 30 buy ins is over rolled. 15-20 youll be fine. Second 300bb is for limit. It means Big bet, if your good, and playing micro 250bb should be fine, mabey even 200
big bets
That advice sucks. There is no definitive number of buyins for being over rolled, and telling people they should move up just because they have the amount of money you consider enough to move up in stakes, is irresponsible.Quote:

For me I haven't lost more than 3 straight buyins in any session in 36,000 hands of play and have had 20 straight days in the black. Who invented this 30 buyin rule anyway?
haha, wut?Quote:

Keep in mind alot of advice i give im assuming your a winning player, or at the least WILL BE a winning player. Varience can defintly crush you, you can do everything right and lose a few hundred bets, but 3k bets? no, im sorry i dont buy it at all. If you lose 3k bets your doing SOMTHING WRONG.
Limit i have sustained a 250BB roll and never been close to bust live or online. Ive taken 100+bb swings but theres winnings there to pad it. Also Br means what your willing to spend. If your playing micro BR is just a technicality. Ireally doubt a ew hundred is anyones net worth. If your playing micr i thin 200BB is a nice number to deposit on your account but i wouldnt call it a BR. same wih NL, 12 buy ins should suffice, if you run really bad you could deposit 10 more, but if you know what your doing 12 BI's should suffice, meaning your wins will pad the varience.
Also varience can even out, its not like youll never get it in with the worst of it and suck out, you will...
Let me give you some REALITY:Quote:

Look, im not saying i dont get it. and ok, maby im out of line assuming we're all winners. But to say you need upwards of 2,500 BB to play NL is crazy.Quote:
