Badly Played? A/k?

Can you fold this?

I know i probably shouldn't of checked the flop - tried to "trap" - with the ace on the river - A/A was definately in his range.. but could i fold this?

Why are you slow playing a set kings on this flop?

$8-10 on the flop, re-raise shove if raised, shove the turn if he calls. At least you would've got your money in ahead.

I can't see anything too bad here. Against a tight opp I just let him take it pre-flop though. You raised from EP and he 3bet from the next seat. This usually at least JJ+, AK If not even tighter. AK plays like shit OOP against this range so I often fold.

Anyway, I think going for the checkraise is fine on the flop, although I guess leading is an option. Turn bet is good and and my stack is going in on the river.

Looks like you just missed a c/r on the flop.

Shit happens, you outran a 14:1 favorite then he hits a 40:1 shot on you.

What do you mean "can you fold this?" Anyone folding that boat for that little money on the river is terrible. Actually I think you played the hand fine. He reraised pf so checking to him on the flop is standard. After he checks behind, leading the turn is good, and there is nothing wrong with the river.

You did fine, when he hits his 1-outer on the turn it's a case of being cold-decked more than anything. Folding preflop is an option too.

Thats not a set. Set is KK on a Kxx flop. Trips is Kx on a KKx flop. In any case I agree that Id probably bet the flop but a check is fine. If hes behind he has 2 outs at most and he's much more likely to stick some more in with QQ, AA if the flop checks through.

I would fold PF. I think the hand is fine and you should never ever fold here for any reason.

Alright - thanks guys - i checked the flop because i wanted to represent an "underpair" - i.e// JJ, QQ, etc... i figured if i bet the flop, he'd put me on A/K - and the fact is - if he had AA (only possible hand) i might get him to put his money in if i check the flop and represent a diff hand then A/K.

As, i'm a new player.. i'm playing 05/10 maybe i should'nt comment - but what the heck.

Firstly -

You have A,K ... if a good, solid, tight player reraises me 3x - i would usually put him on A,A or K,K. Maybe Q,Q but that's unlikely. so i would have folded before the flop. If u think its a possiability that's he's looser and he might have Q,Q- T,T, A,Qetc then u have the right odds to call him. So, for me this situation is an instant fold preflop. Unless, i think he has a loose game. ahdh of course, a fish instant call or maniac. I am a bit negative atm, but its working at low limits. I'm like, i'm not sure where i'm at... so i'll look for a better chance. It depends if i've got a read on his game.

Also, after the K,K had come down on the flop, the most likely hand i would have put him on would have been A,A assuming he's tight(75% sure). So, slow playing it was fine - as he was only a 11-1 shot to hit his Ace for a better full house - yet atm i play all hands very solidly, as i've been getting sucked out alot. Still , slow playing it was a neat option.

One major critism, i know people say Tight/aggressive is the best strategy and on pokertracker i'm classed as weak/passive on turn and river. But, if an A hits the river - i'm pretty sure i'm behind. Therefore the $20 bet was a massive mistake. You should have checked and then hoped he put in a small value bet for odds of say 3-1 so u had good pot odds to call. That's $37 at the end cost you alot and by betting $20 you were pot committed.

You could have got off it quite cheaply in my opinion, if u'd thought the hand through properly. Really speaking, you should have been out of the hand pre fold and waited for a better chance to win some money. Still, its easy for me to say in hindsight. Patience is the key... i've had days, where i've had to fold many A,K or A,Q to re raises and been down on the session. Yet, i look at it long term and sometimes think i've played well, even when i've lost - if i'm managed to keep my losses to the minimum.

lol^^ that's cos i'm playing very low limits and i'm confident of winning on another day. I might tilt at 25/50 :)
