I like 6 tabling 6 max high speed tables, but I've been wondering if the action is any softer at "normal" speed tables; The idea here that good regulars may be more focused on playing more hands per hour, while the fish just join tables randomly or that look 'fun'. I'm guessing this effect might be more pronounced at 25/50/100NL
Thoughts?
I've actually noticed that their stats seem fishier with bigger pots and more people seeing a flop. I just stay away from them though because I just don't like the limited time to make decisions and they are filled with nothing but shortstacks.
Here's the question, what benefits us more/less
A. we have less time to make decisions
B. our opponents have less time to make decisions
The question is, does an opponent ever think deeply about a hand? The answer is no for a lot of them; however, we do. Therefore I take the extra time at normal speed tables and do not like to feel rushed in making a decision.
More fish flock to the turbos because most fish are playing one table with their entire bankroll, and they do not have any patience at all; they just want to make as much money as fast as possible.
turbo is relative.
pokerstars turbo = party regular.
party turbo = 15 seconds = not enough time to think about anything.
Hate the F$£king things. I play on i-poker network and the%players to the flop is much higher than in normal games. I can't seem to get enough time to get the right bet as I have to change from mouse to typing and as a result have timed out to many times. I refuse to play'em now.
Yeah iPoker's turbos are way too fast, but the fish definitely do flock to those, and all the 8-tabling regulars stay off them because of what u said.Quote:

I've been playing mostly 50NL overall but I'm going to try sitting down at 100NL high speed tables full of half stacks. I usually have wanted to sit at 50NL tables with full stacks so I can get paid, but if the half stack 100NL players are easier to pick off than the full 50NL players, it could work...or am I just nuts?
On Stars i haven't really noticed a difference, i just try and find the fishiest tables.

I like the high speed tables because I get lazy playing 4-6 tables at normal speed and run like 28/13, now after paying attention to cocobill's stats I'm playing a lower variance 19/10 game that is working better. At 6 tables at 19/10 I find myself constantly holding great hands on one or two tables and I'm much more willing to let go of garbage and marginal hands on the others.
i mostly refuse to play turbo´s on iPoker for the reasons kagey mentioned.
it´s profitable to follow certain players to turbo´s tho, most fish tend to call, when in doubt and with 15 sec´s to act they are in doubt often.
the level of play is probably worse at hi-speed tables. players have less time to think and so will make, on average, a worse decision.
if you're play is the same at fast and slow tables (or very close to the same) then you would want to be playing fast tables to increase your edge.
nb - most players don't even realize that they are playing at a slow or a fast table. i've been playing for over a year online now and totally forgot that some tables let you think for longer than others.

Luckily I don't have a problem with the time on pstars high speed because the time bank grows the longer you are at the table. Typically that's enough for me on most opponents, except good regs who I shouldn't even be at the table with anyway :)
I might try slower speed tables to see if the time helps (e.g. maybe the faster tables has made me less of a thinking player), but I worry it will lower my hourly winrate. I haven't been playing tricky poker at 50NL tables, pretty ABC setfarming 22/8 type stuff. I take some shots at 100NL but I've been break-even there lately, it seems much stronger than 50NL. Maybe more time will make me grow enough to work into 100NL.
The irritating thing about iPoker is that while tables are turbo the actually rate of hands is quite crap because they take time away from the player but have it between hands and stuff.
But yeah, I have open-folded rockets more often on iPoker than any other site.
