50NL 30k checkup

Hi guys,

Well I've just noted that I've now logged 30k hands at $50NL on crypto.

If you look at the basic stats:

You'll see I was doing okay before, but this month (labelled ($0.50NL) has been fairly crap.
I've obviously tightened up a bit. My aggression stats are:

Does this graph look overly swingy? I know a lot of people have much nicer upward slopes to their graph.
Not sure how bad mine is... if it wasn't for the last 5k hands I'd probably be okay with it.

Looks like you need to utilize position more preflop. Your VPIP/PFR stats are identical for every seat out of the blinds.

Ive got to agree with Galapogos on this, your positional play is a huge leak and something you definitely need to work on. There should be a very big difference between your UTG stats and your button stats but as he pointed out, they are all almost identical. The other main thing I noticed is that you are too passive not only pre-flop but also postflop. UTG you basically should have your VPIP=PFR and in general, I think your PFR should be a much greater percentage of your VPIP.

In terms of the graph, yes it is very swingy, but I think with your current game that is going to be expected because it will produce a lower winrate leading to bigger swings.

I noticed a lot of this stuff when we did a session review awhile back, look over those comments and try applying some of that stuff. Also, a simple suggestion I could make is right now take out your limping hands from UTG and keep your raising range the same and then just work from there adding a few more hands as you get into later position but remember to raise more when you are in position.

You are rolled for NL 100. Obviously, when to move up is a personal decision with a different answer for each player. The positional advice is important.

From a personal standpoint, I started playing NL100 last month with a BR of about 2400. I find the NL100 games to be easier and my winrate thanks me for moving up. NL50 was a 40K hand grind for me.

Well, I moved up a while back, lost $2k and moved back down.
Recently started again and it's going better, but I'm trying to iron out wrinkles in the game at $50NL.

Tighten up a little bit UTG and MP and loosen up your raising standards on the button and CO , ..position is probably the most important factor in 6max games and your not taking advantage of it ...

have you considered moving to an easier game?

i.e pokkerroom or ipoker or something?

I play on crypto, and I definitely disagree with this. 100NL I found to be MUCH harder than 50NL. My move up to 100NL did not go well, and like anosmic, I also moved back down.

However, I didn't move back down to 50NL, but I moved down to the 50pound tables. They play the same as 50NL, but the monetary value is equivalent to 100NL. Something to consider.

The bonuses clear slower though, at the british pound tables.

I wish I could still play pokerroom. Absolute may be the US equivalent.

I would definitely think the difference between levels is pretty site specific. I thought Crypto might be similar demographic to Absolute but it doesn't sound like it.

one idea that might help is to look over some bigger pots u lost oop, then compare to how it would have changed if u were in position.

also, pokerroom was the shit.

Personally I think that you are a bit to tight. I play 50NL at the moment, and over 11k hands I am about 28-30 I think. I would conside being at the 20-22% mark if I was playing full ring.

My graph has similiar swings on it, for example Sat morning (Uk time) I was down 2.5 buys, for a good 500 hands until swinging up 1.5 buyins.

Hmmm. This is starting to sound more like "Anosmic doesn't understand the importance of position."
Which is not (hopefully) what we're talking about.

I'm open to the idea of loosening up in position pre-flop. One thing may be to just move some of the cold-calling numbers and move them to the raise column (i.e. 3-bet more with position). I used to 3-bet 99+ in late position, but I've tightened up a fair bit.

(and re: acrafty if you got your sig through Fortune's Op Manager the site provides an image URL (i.e. http://...) which you just need to put inside [img][/img] tags in your sig... it's a BBCode thing.
