value bet
having trouble with my value bets.
what kind of ideas go through your head when coming to an amount for a value bet?
A lot of times after it's all wrapped up, i feel like i could have got a lot more, and of course, a lot of times, i just don't get a cent.
Thoughts?

Firstly I try to put my opponent on a range of hands which you should always do when you're playing.
I decide how much to value bet depending on what type of opponent I'm facing. Is he a loose passive guy that never gives you credit? Well then it's probably a good idea to bet more than if you were facing that tight guy who will always fold if you bet more than 2bb's.
That's two pretty obvious things to think about I guess. It's pretty hard to give any exact advice though. Oh, the texture of the board matters pretty much too.

It would be better if you would send some hand histories when you had trouble with your value bets so that we could analyze if it was a value bet or a tilted bet.

it really depends on your read. if you think he is holding the 2nd best hand he very well may call an all in bet. if all he has is a small pair maybe 1/2 pot.
then there is the player you are playing against.
