math or reading
I think i've watched on tv like wpt or something that people said that some players rely heavily on math and not so much on reading but other rely heavily on reading and not so much on the math, what are your thoughts, like i feel like i have a much better understanding of putting people on hands and reading and making my decisions on the players, but i understand that math would have to play a part, so i was just wondering if less math and more reading you could still be successful, and if someone would like to help me like, just look over a couple of my hands and assist me with my decisions i would appreciate it. It's weird like, if i sit down and focus in a SnG or at my home game i can win pretty easily but like i dont really use math at all to know my odds to call and all of that, which i would like to change because i want be a good nlhe player so ty for your help in advance

hand reading >>>>> everything else
Math is great for analyzing the game, especially if you're generalizing. The necessary math is counting outs, multiplying by 2 or 4 and determining if you have pot/implied odds. That's about it.
post hands, you'll get feedback

They are both so important. At low levels of cash games I'd go with math. You just have to know when you're getting the (implyed) odds to make calls, semi-bluffs, raises.
The two just work in tandum. Reads are worthless unless you get the odds to work with them, and the math can't help you unless you can narrow down the rangs of hands.

I would have to say that reads and table image control is probably more important then mastering the math. Good to great reading ability and basic to good math knowledge should be just make you quite successfull.

I just started and i recently read that ToP book. I found the loose vs tight players chapter very interesting and usefull. normally i tried to calculate odds, but that chapter explained so well how you should play against tight or loose players that i think my game picked up a little bit right there.
My problem is still calculating implied odds and putting the opponent on hands. but im working on that atm
