Strange kinda tilt.

A while ago I woke up from a strange tilt when I was playing 10NL. I suddenly realized I was down about $30 in 1 hour.

I realized I was kinda feeling it doesn't matter if I lose or not - I have money - if I bust my BR it doesn't matter, I can afford it. I wasn't paying attention. I didn't think "what hand could they have". I was just pushing em' buttons like a robot with a blank mind.

I can't remember what induced it, I wasn't tired or anything. Damn, how can I prevent this happening? Am I playing in too low level? Maybe it's just self discipline. I hope I learned my lesson.

Err... not a very wise post. I'm at work and bored. Can't play poker because of the $#!%& company firewall.

Set limits. If you find yourself in tilt mode turn off the computer and go do something. Some days it just isn't meant to be.

Set a level for losses, and either switch it off, go for a walk.

Don't do my old trick of thinking sod it and playing 0.5/1 and losing a whole load more.

I did this too once (moved up a level when tilting) and actually managed to triple my buy-in. Next day I realized I was just very lucky and it was a stupid move.

Sounds like you are playing at too low a stakes to take the game seriously enough.

Playing with scared money is bad, but playing with blatant disregard for the value of money is worse. Find the balance.

I can tell you that, I had the exact same problem. I have a job, I have money (not alot of money), and playing the $5NL or $10NL and having only $7 or $12 in your stack makes it seem worthless. It's only $0.65 to chase this flush, It's only $0.75 to call and see what he has.

The problem came when I moved up. Yea, I was still better than 95% of the players at that level, I was just waiting for a BR to develope. But you have to realize that, those habits will get ingrained. I couldn't shake the bad habits forever. I still get that way at $25NL or $50NL when I am tired or losing and start tilting before realizing it. I just start playing like a robot. Calling with KJo after a raise and a call, limping UTG with Axsooted or SC, calling a 1/2 pot sized bet, for 1/3 of my stack just to see if he had it.

You need to set goals, you need a reason to play. Set limits, start a blog. Post hands that you lost the most on. Make it a goal to have a $10 winning session, $20, $30, $50. Understand that just playing for ther sake of playing will be detrimental to your long term game and success.
