I am having a world of trouble dealing with these reraised pots.
Full stacks
Hands:
AA, KK no real problems
QQ/JJ: You rereaise, they call. Flop comes A/Kxx you cbet... they call, turn you?? They raise, you?
AK/AKs: You reraise, flop comes no A or K... you cbet, they don't fold they either call or raise. They raise, you fold??? They call turn and still no A/K???
This is why reads help at the poker table. Depends on the type of villian you're up against, what their calling range is, what you've seen them do before in these situations, etc, etc, etc...
A lot of things change depending on your position in the hand, too. Post some hands with reads and you'll have better luck getting help me thinks.
Contrary to popular belief, you are not required to bet every flop that you either raise or reraise preflop. Occasionally checking when you do 'hit' is a good way to mix this up and keep yourself from being overly exploitable.
That said, you also can't only bet the flop when you do hit for obvious reasons. It's hard do adress the actual questions without seeing a hand, having some reads, being at the table, etc...
To echo Lukie's sentiment: One thing I've started doing, which has had much success, is to check hands like AK on A (or K) high flops just to mix things up. It becomes very difficult for AQ to get away from an A high reraised hand where you check the flop.
FWIW: A high is very different than K high, more people will call with an A than with a K.
you need to have an idea of what you will do given certain variables on the flop BEFORE you get yourself into these situations. don't just 3bet because you're supposed to, do it because you have a line and a conditional line if opponent acts in a way post flop that varies from what you expected him to do.
Not only reads, but YOUR image can be a very important factor in making these decisions as well.
Another key adjustment I made a few months ago is dropping my c-bet frequency to 75-80% against many opponents. Although these things are always a judgment call based on your holding, opponent's chance of call/raise and the flop texture with a little mix-up in there.
It also controls the pot size which is good when all you have is TPTK.Quote:
