1) WTF is with the mini raise then re-raise? Does this always mean AA? Is this some banana trying to get fancy with 99-QQ? Do you ever fold here?

2) Is my flop raise completely horrendous? Should I have just called? Is my line repping a set of kings? Is it just plain bad that I ended up building the pot with TPTK? Would a bigger bet have likey pushed him off?

3) Do I check the turn? Push? Call any small bet? Fold to any reasonable resistance? What range are you putting said banana on?

This hand pretty much confused me. :? Assistance on all streets would be appreciated.

I look for a cheap showdown given the action. As weak as it sounds, I probably check/call this down and keep the pot small. If he pushes the river or anything crazy I let it go.

Given how you've played it, seems like you're playing for stacks now. Meh, I don't mind it all that much given it's 25 Nl and there are so many donks that do this with random crap.

As played, I would take one of two lines. I would call flop and raise turn (that is a set line). Otherwise if I chose to raise flop I make it at least $12. That does build a pot and says you are playing for stacks. Without a read at $25 NL, I am likely playing for stacks anyway. This is TT-QQ/AK as much as it is AA. I don't think many $25 have the balls to 3bet 99 preflop.

More than likely, even if you did try to rep a set, these guys aren't folding AA anyway. :wink:

Tough spot though. I like keeping pot small in position. Usually if he's donking QQ-99 or some stupid hand like kq-kj you can call him down then value-bet the river when he checks to you.

Getting the money in quickly is probably slightly less +ev (since you risk blowing him off hands that you crush). If you're leading then he's drawing to 2 or 3 outs so I wouldn't be in a big hurry to get the money in.

pot is 27.35 on a blank turn and hero has 11.50 left. Keeping the pot small isnt an option. Just shove or bet 5.75 on each street if you think he'll call with JJ more that way.

I would just call flop. I wont worry about flush draws in rereraised HU pot. Folding either turn or river against heavy resistance wouldnt be horrible either. I look for a cheap showdown as stated by others in this thread.

Pretty much the exact same thoughts that went through my head as I shoved.

I think I need to tread a little more cautiously in spots like these. The flop raise was probably a mistake in hindsight. Thanks guys. It wasn't a great feeling sitting down for my first hand of the nights sessions and to lose a buyin...grr.

Keep in mind the long term.

KK vs AA happens once every 25 times. 4% of the time you hold KK.

That means 96% of the time you won't be up against AA :wink:

What does this have to do with AK?

I go back and forth between pushing and checking. How often do you have him beat here and he'll call? Rather if we check he's likely to bet a worse hand, and I'm not all that worried about any draws coming in.
