BB is 26/15/1... He likes to check/call a lot and generally is passive postflop. I'm running 21/9/3 and we have both been at this table for about 100 hands. Is there any line I could have taken to play this better? I wasn't sure if he was capable of a bluff on the river...

I think the big river bet is really suspicious. He could be trying to take it away from after you checked behind the turn, but I'm not paying to find out either.

here is my reasoning: He makes a standard PFR, then calls a good sized reraise. His range is now all pairs and AK, but likely nothing lower than 99. He check-calls a Kxx flop. He cannot have a heart draw unless he would call with AQs preflop, which seems unlikely. AA is almost certain to C/R the flop. KK and AK are the only things cold-calling this bet OOP. When it gets to the river, AK making a PSB would be utterly ridiculous because no worse hands call, and he can't be entirely confident that we don't have AA. Thus, he wants us to pay off his kings full with his suspicious looking river PSB

Villain didn't make a PFR, he cold-called a re-raise. He's laggy pre-flop over 100 hands, and effective stacks are ~130BB, so I think his range is all PPs, AKo, AQs+... maybe even a little wider. I think an aggro player probably 3-bets KK pre-flop in this situation, but maybe not. It's hard to put villain on a hand here because if he has a set/boat he played it really poorly, but I think 33, KK, AK, AhQh are most likely. The more I think about it, the more I like a turn bet of ~$20, fold to a raise.

I did misread the preflop action but my read doesn't change. AQh is the only possible holding we beat, and it's a highly unlikely one.

I've agreed all along this is a fold, I just disagree that you can put him on exactly KK here.

That's my best guess. I'd say KK (45%), AA (25%), AK (15%), 33 (10%), AQh (5%)

He either knew you were weak or might donk off some chips calling versus his AK.

Id have liked to see a turn bet here of half the pot folding to a raise as the river play by opp out of position will give away his hand and we'll know whether to make a call or not.

uhh, a lot of players hate 4betting kk preflop versus legit looking raises and reraises. 4betting kk here makes it hard for opponents to make a mistake
