Re: Winrate Question --- Is this good or can I do better??

I know this i a small sample of hands for $25 NL, but I have also played on other sites with similar results. So I am looking at least 10000+ with good results and bonuses and rakebacks etc.

I think I have found a more fishy site than PP!!!

In the last 1000 hands I am up $35 which equals 14 BB/ 100

I was wondering if 14 BB /100 hands is good or not?

I always buy in short stacked with only $10.

I heard that some players play better with short stacks then large stacks.
Since I learned how to play short stacked I figure it is the best way for me to play at this moment.

The shorter my stack the more aggressive I am, I usually make a come back when I get down to $2-$3 left.

I also know lots of mistakes I have made and this number could get to 20BB/100 for this level.

My last question is , ' If I move from buying in short to buying in full $25 amount, will my BB/100 go up???'

Also keep in mind that $10 = 40 BB so I am not that short until i get down to $5.00 or less.

Actually if you play deep you will have more opportunities to become agressive.

15 big blinds/100 hands is a highly respectable winrate. However, your sample size is far too small to know much. You won't have much of an idea of your winrate until 20000+ hands.

Actually, I played your Preflop guide and it works really well, SO THANKS FOR THE GUIDE.

I probably play a little tighter than the guide usually, but loosen it up on tight tables.

I use Poker-Spy and like to start off with a more Tight-Passive style and then loosen up after I feel I have found most players weaknesses.
Tight-Passives you just get out of the way most of the time when the raise /checkraise etc.

Right now I am making a little more money with bonuses + rakebacks then actually playing the game. Bonuswhores rocks!!!

And I am currently disecting HOH1. I haven't gotten into HOH2, but I want to know all of HOH1 like the back of my hand. I want every idea and concept that Dan teaches to be burnt into my brain lol

How do I go to deeper stacks??? My bankroll is big enough but maybe I should do it in small steps, like start with $15 per table and then after a while start with $20 per table and then finally $25.
Then I can see how I progress with deeper stacks.

Anyway my sample size is much bigger but I don't use PT. Maybe I should. I really like PokerSpy cuz it allows me to analyze hands after they are finished. Then I can note things on each player that I feel is really important. I had a guy the other day doing bluffs with 3/4 pot bets, but full pot bets ment at least 2 top pair. Most of these people don't vary their play, and if they do it is rarely. Little things like this really help me out.

Anyway I started with $50 on Pstars and built my BR with 7S8.
Now I have doubled my bankroll playing NL and I am closing in to $1000.
I want to be one of the guys that starts with $50 and turns it into $10000.

Does PTBB stand for Poker Tracker Big Blind, and why it is 2x the BB for NL??

PT was created for Limit Hold'em, where they measure things in terms of big BETS (which is 2x the big blind) therefore when playing NL and using pokertracker, there arose confusion between the term "BB" -- does it mean big bet or big blind? Therefore the ptbb unit was created to keep everyone on the same page.

OK thanks. So when people on this forum say BB/100 do they mean PTBB or just BBs??? Or is it 50/50 or something ??

Also I just played another 100 hands on this loose - fishy site that i am keeping a secret.
Made $17 playing 2-3 tables off and on with short stacks, a couple of bluffs on the river, etc.

So I am up $53 in 1100 hands for 19BB/100 or 9.5 PTBB/100.
I know... just a small sample. Also been coaching my wife and she is crushing the .01/.02 cent NL at PStars. lol

::grins:: You can do it. Just keep studying and plugging away - eventually you'll get there. I started with $25 and just tonight passed 19k.

Speaking more to your questions:
You should move up - either to a full buyin or to buying in short at higher stakes. With nearly 1k, you can easily support a $25 buyin for a full stack (or a $20 buyin for short stack play at NL$50). I recommend you do whatever works best for you - my initial experience was much like yours - I started by playing short-stack ring for my first 1.5k or so, then moved into SnGs and then ultimately into MTTs. I found the short-stack thing a bit less profitable as I moved up in stakes (I continued up to the point of buying in to NL200 with $40 before I completely stopped and did the SnG thing).

One of the chief differences you'll need to account for if you start playing with a deeper stack is that your decisions won't be as straightforward postflop. You'll have enough chips to have to make a decision on the flop, turn, and river much more often.

Personally I worry about the poster's slightly braggy tone, his disregard of a tiny sample size and his concentration on each individual win/loss. I don't think we should be encouraging him to move up - play full stacked, sure, but not move to $50 because I seriously worry he'll go bust.

Actually , shortly after writing this I had a bad run of cards, and some bad play on my part and lost 4 stacks. Luckily they were all short stacks so my lose was $40 instead of $100.

I then looked at why I got beat. One stack with a bad beat on the river when I put the villian AI on the Flop. I was ahead with 2 pair and this guy was loose and aggressive. So I think I played it fine.
The rest was bad plays, too aggressive in some spots, and not playing tight enough. These tables were REAL loose and the pots were big.

I just had to tighten up my starting hands a little , that is all.

I won't go bust at $50, cuz if I tried it and lost a couple of stacks I would come back down to $25 and work my way up again.

Right now I only play 2-3 tables at a time. My next goal is to increase this to 3-4 , 4-5, etc. and to start playing deeper. This will be implemented slowly so it becomes "normal" . I am using PokerSpy, but I feel PT would be better. I might purchase that really soon , with a HUD as well.

However, I just talked to the creator of PokerSpy and he is coming out with a HUD in the next version. I may be beta testing it shortly.

So I might just hold off on the PT for a little while.
