Bet the straightening turn to see where I'm at?

This guy is calling with all kinds of crap (42/10). I don't even know how to define a range for you. The problem is he's hitting all kinds of weird hands. PT shows: offsuit 1/2 gappers + connectors 85o+, pp's, KTo+,offsuit Ax. ex. Check-rasied A5 to a preflop raiser, A86 rainbow flop. I saw a few other hands where he tricky-plays his hands.

I have been pretty active and fairly aggressive post flop. I'm running 29/16, F3.15, T1.78,R1.37 over 1000 hands, but 500 played this session 2 tables. It's not a big sample but I thought it might help.

I was afraid the straight hit on the turn. But seeing as how I called a pot sized river bet, I should have bet the turn.

Say I bet $3.50 on the turn. And say he calls. Then do I chuck my cards to a lead bet by him? That seems like the only way to do it. If he reraises the turn bet I let it go there too? What if it's a min reraise (not that another $3.50 is meaningless), do I chuck it there? Does the turn bet need to be bigger than $3.50 to get a good idea of where I'm at?

The backdoor flush hit on the river. Do I consider that? He makes the "I have a draw" call on the flop (the .25 call, not my reraise).

I come up with weird reads, but to me this looks like 34s or something like that, due to the flop call and turn check... The turn check's what I sometimes do when I hit a decent draw on the turn and want a free card, and often if I've been betting hard on the flop, I get it.

Think of how many worse hands he calls a turn bet with, and how many river cards aren't good for you. Don't be so worried of the nuts!

Bet turn at least 2/3 pot for value and protection, and as a side beneifit you kinda see where ur at. Then if he leads really strong on the river, maybe fold depending on your reads. Around 1/2 pot or less I prob call.

bet the turn. half pot. fold to a raise.

if you get called, think about the price on the river vs what you think he has.

As played i think you have to call the river becuase your opp is so fishy.

christ bet the turn! you have to be crazy not to. You have top two buddy, if this guy happened to have a set then whateva, there is no way to know that on the turn.

why fold to a turn raise, the 6 helps one possible hand...?

If I wanted to be a dick i would point out that it also helps 66 making a set, as long as 7 9 for the straight :wink:

The only reason I can see checking the turn would to enduce a bluff on the river, but I would just put out a good sized bet on the turn too see where you are at.

Also you said he was playing all kind of junk, is it not possible that he has some lower 2 pair?

don't bet to see where you're at...that's not a good reason. how about bet this turn for value....or to protect against draws?
