If you're wondering if you're on tilt, does that mean you're on tilt? I have known that I have been on tilt twice. I have wondered probably 3 times. So have I really been tilting 5 times?

Yes. Also, there will be times (probably quite a lot of them) where you DON'T realise you're on tilt but your play indicates you are.
Though if you really have been on tilt only 5 times, then sir, I salute you. I have been on tilt 5 times today I reckon.
Yeah, I find myself calling too much pre-flop after a bad beat. I 8-table, when I find myself going back to an idle table thinking "wtf, how did i get to see a flop with 85s in MP??". Then I have to step back an realize I am tilting.
If I dont realize it i end up doing stupid stuff like taking JJ too far, even all in post flop with an overcard out there.
I managed to get stacked while holding JJ, QQ, KK and AA tonight! Quite a collection. Only the JJ was a bad beat (set on the river for 88). I am such a fucking fish, I'm tilting more now thinking about it than I was at the time!
This describes my "tilt mode" exactly. Just starting calling with crap in hopes of hitting a monster to get even. Never works. Takes about 30 min or so to realize the mistake.Quote:

It's probably different for everyone. I dont really have a problem with bad beats, if someone is making a mistake in calling me and hits his 2 outer or whatever, I'm sad but I realise I played the hand good and just had bad luck, so this usually wont make me tilt.
However I have a huge problem when I'm losing money over a longer period of time in a session (no matter if it's because of bad play or bad luck), because I will start to play hands I usually wouldnt play and I try to make more 'moves' in the wrong places because I'm trying to prove to myself I can outplay the other players.
I gotta say that you make tilt sound alot like love with only experiencing it 5 times. I've had to completely restructure my breathing technique to battle my tilt. Tilt can really be brought on by almost anything that overwhelms you emotionally whether it be a bad beat, crap talker at the table, or even a spat witht he spouse. To only have tilted 5 times you have to have the discipline of a monk.
By the way the breathing thing really works. Also planning, and preparing for the things you can expect before a session, or tournament. For example: Tell yourself how you'll react to a bad beat before you start playing, then make yourself deal with it in the right way when it happens.
This technique only takes a few extra minutes every day before you start playing, and saves tons of money.
From what i remember a long time ago, tilting is kinda like being punched in the face. You have a physical reaction in your body from the anger etc you feel and you totally have to walk away from the game for a little bit and let the emotions go.
I used to go for a jog or to the gym if i felt id just majorly tilted but my playing times sort of prevent that now which sucks because it helps. That adrenaline really makes me go faster :D
