To anyone that pays for their own health insurance, what's the best plan to get, or what are the main things I should be looking for when choosing the best plan for me?
I need to get some so I don't have to get some shitty job with benefits..

major medical
Do a major medical/catastrophic only. Use cash for routine visits and small illnesses/injuries. Set aside about $150 per month per person, and earn interest on that shit instead of letting Aetna have it.
I just starting doing this with my family this summer. Was so sick of paying $600/mo. in premiums, then still paying 20%+ of the cost of our visits out-of-pocket. 12-month and 18-month routine wellness checks for the young-un are *not covered?!?! Wtf?
I've been meaning to look into BasicBlue, supposed to be a simple plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Don't know what it entails. Maybe I'll do that sometime, or maybe I'll wait and see if someone less lazy than I will post some details here.
hook up with someone that works at the hospital... thats what i did. My gf pays like $20/week and its full coverage. As far as i know we wont have to pay for anything, and here pregnancy was fully paid for.
OH CANADA!!!!!
Well, I'm only 18, and my girlfriend is still in high school with a part-time job at a shoe store.. so I don't think that'd be happening any time soon. :(Quote:
