I was just playing on Paradise Poker and caught 4 queens on the flop, and ended up getting beat on the river by a royal flush of spades. Anyone know the odds of that happening? I was doing so good too! :?

I'll assume Villain used both his holecards in the Royal Flush.
Assuming you had QQ (so flop QQx)
(2*4/50*3/49)*(2/48*1/47*3)*(2/46*1/45*44/44)
first two terms are opp hole cards, third and fourth terms are our quads, remaining three terms are the board making the RF.
= 0.00000000839%
If you had Qx (so flop QQQ)
(3*4/50*3/49)*(3/48*2/47*1/46)*(2/45*1/44)
=0.0000000002145%
Dunno if these calculations are correct, bit of on the fly work, but they might be..
Oh you probably expected a sympathy response like "dude that sucks!" but yeah, I really just calculated the odds..
Hopefully you were playing well within your bankroll so you can shrug off the loss and move on. The fact that you made a post about it, and not in the bad beats section, makes me worry...Quote:
