I don't like this when your so short because you can't muster enough FE. And I hope you have a tight read that he can fold AK here.

NLT&P had a rather large section on why buying in short was great. I dont even think 200 at a 400NL is all that short in their terms.

i could be way off base, but it seems to me that even if he folds the river everytime the diamond comes, this still is only barely +EV.

as for buying in short, I like buying in half stacked lately. you actually lose a great deal of fold equity, which translates to people calling you with crap because you are all in.

It's pretty easy to justify a lot of loose calls if you assume that your opponent will always fold when you bluff and always call when you value bet. That assumption usually isn't accurate, however.

Absolute you can buy in for 200BBs, cant you? I just think that buying in for 50 BBs when changes the game a lot when its typically deepstacked to begin with is giving up money. Preflop Id probably open fold because if I complete Im not calling a raise because I dont think the implied odds are there.

ap hardly ever plays 200bbs deep. Or anyone who does is a nutcamper.
I like the play but not with 50bbs.

I havent played or even opened their software in a while, so I was going refering to this specific situation.

Shortstacking isnt a bad strategy at all in certain situations, but when you are playingin a 5 handed game where 3 people have 200BB+ it doesnt make a ton of sense. If they are good and you dont want to lose much and want to make your decisions easier, use better game selection and pick a different table. If they are bad you want to cover them.

oh im not so sure.
The nutcampers may very well call preflop for 20bbs with AQ when the shorty goes over them with AK/AA/KK etc because thats not a great fold in the general context of shortys being donkeys/gambOOlers etc.
The problem with deep stacks is that they wont put a lot of money in after the flop unless they have a set or strong hand etc. So short stacking the ap game is potentially rewarding imo because if the deep stacks are going to gambOOl it will be preflop with a hand like AQ or JJ facing a 20bbs push. Add to that the fact that you can rathole as well i think makes ap worth a shot (ill be there midweek perhaps :wink: )
