Can't decide if this is a good or horrible push...

50NL 6 handed game, and it is folded around to me on the button where i hold QQ.

i have been playing decent aggressive poker and people have generally been folding to my aggression

3 folds
i raise 4xbb on the button.(65 dollar stack).

sb (who had been calling me alot pf and then playing weakly afterwards)
calls. (30 dollars stack)

bb folds.

board comes 7-9-j rainbow.

villan checks, hero raises to 4 dollars, villan bets 10 dollars, hero pushes all in...

i didn't really respect this person as a poker player...and yet i think i should have stopped and thought long enough about the fact that she had been acting fairly weak post flop in previous hands. i think the fact that we were heads up, she was sb and i was button, along with the fact that she had somewhat of a small stack, may have clouded my judgment...it took me about half a second to push all in. Bad play??

this is how i play it and a lot worse hands call

I raise this flop in her position with AJ (and then I fold to your push). BUT I dunno. If she's been weak before, then that's your read. The flop check raise from a weak player is a MASSIVE sign of a monster, and because the only overpairs possible beat (or tie in the unlikely case of QQ) with you, you can't even hope she has one of them. I would glumly, and after 29.5 seconds, fold.

at first i didnt like it. but then you must consider that to a weak player TP can be and is a check raising hand.
plus, if you are ahead, then there are so many cards that can come on the turn that will tend to kill any and all action as they will scare either you or her out of putting very much more into the pot. But you cant really fold for such a small raise either. so the overall best play in this situation might be to push now and get all of the chips in with the chance to take it down before the board gets scarier.

However - if you think she's capable of making a read on you which says you make a lot of raises and cont bets from the button, she could be doing this with hands as poor as JT. I doubt this is the case often enough to push, but it's a thought - again, only your reads can tell you if it's likely, and they seem to say it's not.

As you've described it, bad push. I don't know if I could fold it, but the likelihood of you being ahead is small, and you could easily be drawing near dead. The reason I'd fold over calling is that there are no cards you'd want to see on the turn. (Even a Q won't help you beat a straight, and a paired board may give her a FH).
If she calls alot that would imply the type of hands that hit 79J perfectly (79/9j/QT).

Also, if she's just making a move then she'll do it again when the board isn't as bad, and you'll get your money back (and then some).

i play $25 nl, and if the play at $50 is anywhere close, i get it all in here.

i think its a good push - your raise wasn't overwhelming and was from a standard stealing spot - She could be Ck-raising you with any Jack - I mean, if you had AQ wouldn't it be very conceivable that you play that the same exact way preflop and on the flop? (Except maybe fold the ck-raise) - I would push it there -

well, in general i think it was a pretty bad push. sure, she might be trying to resteal...but like i said she is weak passive, and how often does a player like that actually go for a resteal? generally i think the way i played this hand is typical of how i have been playing big pairs lately...and that is not well. i think it is a discipline problem for me. i think untill i can practice a little more self control i am going to make it a point to throw away big overpairs to re-raises postflop a very large majority of the time.

maybe your right - what if SHE had been the one who pushed, would you have folded? weak passive, but playing NL, they still like going all in sometimes don't they? feel like letting us know what happened now? I don't have a problem with the push....but i have folded those spots too - The major thing that influences my call is your position - A standard button raise is done with a lot of hands and I don't think she could accurately put you on QQ there - You could raise AQ A10s, or even KQ the same exact way right? So if she has any Jack, she probably doesnt' want to give you any free cards...

limpin...i used very similar reasoning to yours when i pushed, i thought she was trying to resteal or defent top pair. the problem here is that, while this is true for most players, i should have known it couldn't be true for her. she was just too weak/tight. even though i immediately pushed i was in no way surprised to see her straight. i really need to slow down and think a bit more.... :)

she called your raise with T8, thats more +ev for you than losing a stack here with QQ is -ev for you imo.

she also didnt reload to a full stack, even more +ev if we should lose a pot to her.
