Pokertracker vs. Pokeroffice

Hey guys,
For the past couple weeks Ive started my game of playing pokerstars .10-.25 and .25-.50 NL (6 max) I have been rather successful building my roll from $100 to $450. Only thing is im confident I can be making more at another site especially if im using a tracking software. I found the players to be pretty good and stars.
Heres what I was thinking: Play a couple more raked hands at stars to get my $50 bonus, move over to party and use the free pokeroffice promo to get the software. My question is would you guys recommend this or should I just spend the extra $55 and get pokertracker.
Ive tried the trial version of pokertracker and was very impressed im just wondering if pokeroffice offers the same features and I wont be missing out on something important.

I don't have any experience with PokerTracker but I did get PokerOffice as part of a promotion with noble poker. I really like PO. I could be incorrect, but I believe PO has fewer statistical options but it does offer a Live Tracker (pot odds, analysis of opponents, etc.)-I don't believe PT offers this-many people that use PT often times use PokerAce as their HUD (a substitute for PO's Live Tracker). It's win-win actually-free PO with the opportunity to go fishing at Party :dance: -I'd go with PO for now.

I've heard forum members suggest that, once your game develops, one should eventually have both since PT has greater statistical depth.

Another question I have is does anyone know how or if i can change my Neteller account to US funds because right now id be paying a 1.9% fee to exchange it? And id rather not have to make a new account but i guess i would rather than pay the $10.

O and one more thing do i have to download party a certain way or do anything else a specific way other than enter the promo code to get the free PO, i feel likes its too easy to get something thats normally $79?

I'd go for Poker Office, it's the best software in my oppinion. More userfriendly, better filtering tool, custom graphs and everything built in. You have to download the poker client from Poker Office's website.

I don't agree that Poker Tracker has more or better stats, actually I prefer Poker Office when I'm anlysing my play.

There are other ways to get PT and/or PO for free from poker play; I wouldn't forgo the Party sign-up bonus just for that (in fact, I wouldn't sign up at Party until you can put $500 together to max out the bonus. Just a suggestion).

The merits of PO vs PT are always up for debate and old threads on FTR hash some of them out. In either case, get some kind of poker tracking software-- it'll rapidly improve your game.

a wise man once told me "don't blow a sign-up bonus on a $80 piece of software". try one of the other sites for the PO2--> i did noble
i wouldn't try to finish the signup bonus at noble, it is very slow, just get the po2 and take off

as stated, dont waste the party bonus. go to either noble or pokerroom to get PO2, and they also have a decent bonus attached, but it will be hard clearing them in ring games. I cleared the PO2 and 40% bonus in about a week playing $10+1 sngs at pokerroom, so you could try that

I think you get a $100 bonus as well as Poker Office when you sign up to Party.

Just a questions, how much better is it to not use the party bonus to get PO2?
It's a 20% up to 100 plus PO, opposed to 25% up to 100. So I wouldnt think that makes a difference really.

But does using the PO affect reload bonuses or other things like that in the future?

that is still a good bonus, but the party bonus through PokerSourceOnline is much better right now. You end up getting $100 from Party and $90 from PSO and you only have to do 250 raked hands. Hands down the best deal. so i would do the PO2 bonus on pokerroom, which i think is much easier to clear the full bonus than noble, and go to party for that sweet bonus afterwards.

Whatever database PO uses when you first install it is fine for the first 800 hands or so. After that, it slows down HORRIBLY. I used to uninstall and reinstall PO after so many hands (and losing all the live tracker info) until I read about the mysql conversion. That should be the first thing you do after you install it.

Sounds like the best deal to me. If you can get the normal $100 bonus AND free software (or another bonus from someone else), it's no contest.

i installed MySQL and converted the DB (i thought)after about 500 hands, but im up to 4000 now, and its running incredibly slow again. should i try to reconvert the DB, or will i lose all my info?

Make a new DB every 30k hands.

I posted this in another thread a week or two [I dont know how long] ago:
"I own PO2 and am actually thinking about buying PT and PAHUD for a few reasons. Yea, the interface in PO is a lot better and easier to use than PT, but thats about it. The support for different networks is not as good with PO as it is with PT, the built in overlay is nice to have and better than nothing but the stats it can display arent all that great and PAHUD is many many times better. PO doesnt have any cbet stats or showdown stats, both of which are incredibly important to have. The overlay also is not as easily customizable [ie. different layouts] and does not have an option to click on a username to show full stats. So yea, PO has a nice interface and a built in overlay that is better than gametime+, but an interface doesnt make you money, what you can do with it does. "

Right now Im getting PT through PSO @ paradise [also getting the $100 signup bonus] and will then buy PAHUD. PO is easy to use, but that is really all it has going for it, the overlay is better than Gametime, but is miles behind PAHUD and the overlay is what I really care about. Also, it is easier to datamine with PT as you can auto-import. All of these issues have been brought up with the PO designer and he always responds "This is a feature we have realized is incredibly important and is going to be implemented shortly." Weeks and months go by and there is still a lack of stats and customizability with the overlay and auto-importing. Go with PT+PAHUD, switch to PO2 if they can get their act together and offer a HUD as versatile as PAHUD.

Also, dont do the pokerroom bonus through PSO, it isnt worth it because you miss out on a 5x bonus available through bonuswhores. I personally just did the bonus through Paradise because you cant get rakeback there and the signup bonus is as good as any you can get from another affiliate. When choosing the room to go through to get the software make sure it isnt at a room where you can get rakeback [unless you have rakeback at another room on the same network] or a better bonus through a different affiliate. Id really suggest Paradise as all the others have either better bonuses elsewhere or rakeback.

It really doesnt have all the statistics though, and it does have a hud but it isnt near as good as PAHUD. PO2 costs essentially the same as PT+PAHUD, so for the price you should be getting a comparable HUD, but you dont.

As I mentioned earlier, you are wasting the 5x $200 Pokerroom bonus by signing up for that. The party bonus should be the same either way, you just have to deposit more to get it but you do give up the chance of getting rakeback there which is what most people settle down with when they get high enough in limits.

I don't think reconverting will accomplish anything. I'm close to 8,000 hands in my Party DB and it seems to still be running fine. What kind of system do you have? I forget the exact specs, but mine's a Dell, about 5 years old, 512 of memory, Pentium4-- pretty pokey by today's standards.

I also keep the DB's separate depending on the site I'm playing on to keep the DB sizes smaller. No need to mix the Party players with the Ongame players, etc (which won't be too hard since I won't be playing Ongame anymore-- Party will be the only site I play regularly at that PO works with). When I was playing limit and hadn't converted to mysql, I had Party and Stars all on the default DB and it got slow pretty quick. Things are working smoothly still but I don't know if keeping things separate is making a difference now or if it's purely because of the MySQL conversion. Maybe time to use some winnings and upgrade your system?

i have a dell pentium 4 3Ghz with HT, 1gb or ram and a 128mb graphics card. i think that should be ok. when i downloaded MySQL and converted, it was doing something kinda screwy so i dont know if it converted right. i dont know, ill screw with it and see if i can make it go faster.

Ill problably end up going to party and deposited around $600 into it to get the $100 bonus and the PO bonus. To be honest with the style I play I really feel $600 is enough for the .25-.50 NL games I dont even buy in the full $50 when I play as I find Im more successful picking up smaller pots then big ones.
Also Im not moving just for pokeroffice but mainly to get easier games, the only thing thats slowing me down is Neteller's Canadian exchange fee, which im trying to get changed into a US account.

Just one more question what is considering a raked hand a party?

Since you are just starting out then PO is ok, but expect to want to buy PT if you move up. The one thing you really do need to listen to us about is bankroll management. What is the style that you play? Why is it less prone to variance, especially at 6max? Also, why are you buying in short?

I was buying in short because I felt the tables were really tight and it becomes more profitable to play super aggressive with the blinds larger relative to stack size. I dunno im probably blowing smoke here but am i at a disadvantage by buying in short.
About bankroll I was just trying to get out of stars quicker I really wanna go to party and pick up PO and some easier games, now that i got the deposit bonus im gonna move down to $25NL.

Why did'nt you install the latest update if you're a Poker Office user? It included Showdown% and Cbet% + a lot of other stats for the live tracker.

i'm so fed up with pokertracker and all the times its froze on me and the database errors and such that I'm about to get pokeroffice just out of spite.

Also, f'ing PAHUD isn't showing stats on party anymore, anyone know what thats about? I don't depend on it like others, but it's certainly nice to have.

I have 40k hands in my pokeroffice database and it still runs fast.I have myqsl installed afcourse.

Hmm, I did install it [or atleast the last time I was notified to I did and I just chcked and dont have those stats. Ill have to look into that.

Anyways, if they both have the same stats [im not sure that they do, but with the addition of these they should be very similar] then there isnt a huge difference between the two. I would still take PAHUD over the built in HUD and since the combination of the two is the same price as PO Id go with PT, but if you are only doing a bonus to get them and dont want to spend the money then id suggest getting PO unless you can find a PT+PAHUD bonus. Until I check out the added functionality of the HUD I really cant say much more though.

i installed the updates to PO2 a few days ago, and i see the showdown stats, but where are the c-bet stats? i just ran a filter with first in raise and bet first on flop

In the menu - Live Tracker -> Customize Poker Table Overlay, and then add Cont bet%. I've heard that the Cont bet% isn't totally accurate as of yet though, but there will probably be a fix for that in the next patch.

can you get PT+PAHUD through any kind of signup bonuses?

i havent seen it offered. to my knowledge all of the bonuses just offer PT

I remember reading a thread over at 2+2 where somebody said it was offered, but they never mentioned where and I havent been able to find that thread again. I just went to PSO, signed up for paradise and for 1000 raked hands you get a $100 bonus and PT, use $25 from that bonus to buy PAHUD and then keep the $75.
