AKo .. one of my biggest losing hands

Please feel free to tear these HHs apart... My last 25k hands, AKo is rated my 9th worst all-time hand. It seems I either win a small pot or lose a mid size/big pot with it. I'm going to post 6 or so of my tough AK hands and tell me what I could have done better.

SB Just sat down at the table, this was his second hand... so no reads. Is the river worth a call? Raise pf, C/r flop, c turn, 1/2 pot lead on river seemed like a big hand to me... if I put him on AK (which I did here) is it worth calling if I think I will split?

lol.... I don't remember this hand at all, after looking at it I want everyone here to feel free to refer to me as a donk. This hand is just hideous, I didn't re-raise pf, which I think is fine, but why the hell did I bet 3/4 on the flop? When faced on the turn I guess I thought 12-1 to get an A or K was worth it (who knows if it would have been good)....

Villian is 23/10 over 150 or so hands, so pretty solid... but since he won a big pot his pf raise over the last 15 or so hands has been about 90%. When my cbet failed on the flop I pretty much gave up, goot or bad? Should I have bet more on the flop?

I was on the button with AK and didn't reraise a min raise pf... Other than that does everything else look fine? Mp2 was a shortstack donk.. hooray for shorties....

1) Gay as this is, I might be tempted to muck to flop raise. Check raises on the flop at lower limits almost always mean monster. More realistically, I call, check turn, probably fold to river bet 8 times out of 10.

2) I play it the same way--don't think it's weak. You're trying to control the pot size OOP.

3) Isn't check/call flop, check/raise turn donk code for "I have a good hand" ? Also telling is the fact that instead of pushing, he minraises leaving ~ $12 behind in his stack--I find that's usually a signal of strength. I don't mind the fold there.

4) Erm, yeah--that's pretty bad. Leaving aside the obvious comments, I'd probably raise that gay little turn bet--I've been finding lately that those kind of stupid bets mean exactly what they look like, "I don't have much of anything, maybe I'm on a draw, but I am both a pussy and also hate checking, so how does $.50 sound to you? Oh ten dollars? Fold."

5) Unless your usual cbet is 1/2 pot, I don't like the flop bet. I would also probably bet at the river--he's checked twice, indicating a totally shitty hand, and the flush card hit which would lend credibility to a bet.

6) Yeah, reraise PF. I'd probably put the shortie all-in on the turn.

Heres my 2 cents on AK, granted I'm relatively new to cash games.

I started off playing lots of low stakes SNGs, where after a few blind levels top pair is great and AK is strong. But in cash games, you already said it. AK wins small pots. So keep the pots small.

1) 3-bet flop. Min preflop reraises are weak, if this is AA than so be it. Looks like AK to me too.

2) When I'm OOP on a hand like this, I like to check/call flop and lead the turn, fold to turn raise. Dunno if thats a normal line but its been working for me so far at 50NL. Oftentimes they fold, and if they just call it usually means im ahead.

3) Check behind on turn.

4) Check flop. Mutliway pot, you didnt raise preflop, no one will belive this flop helped you, and anyone with a pp will stick around.

5) I think I fire a second barrel here, trying to rep an overpair. But I don't think your line is necessarily terrible, esp if this guy is a calling station.

6) stupid shortstacks. Played fine.

Also, when you do bet again on the turn, I don't think you have to pot it. A smaller bet still denies people the proper odds to call and doesnt bloat the pot.
