I would not bet; A similar situation just came up for me earlier today. My reasoning: If he only has overcards, I take down the pot. If I bet, and he only has overdards, he will fold. If I bet, and he happens to have the flush or straight, he will call or raise.

Didn't see the action properly .. this does look like a push though.

Without a further read to tell me otherwise, I wouldn't reopen the betting here and check behind. Or do you think he'll call a push with high pocket?..

oh wow, what a terrible spot. Our hand has virtually no showdown value here.

Give ourself a few dollars in random donk pot equity, make our best estimate of our folding equity here based on what we think his range might be, and push all-in if it's pretty clear that's a +EV play? Anybody else have a better way of going about this?

fwiw I usually pansy-out and check behind in spots like this. :(

This guy almost never raises preflop, and in this hand he raised in first position, then made a substantial bet on the flop into several players, so I was fairly confident he had a high pair.

On the turn, he quickly checked, and then quickly called my turn bet, which I thought was a sign of nervousness over the possible straight. Then when the river card came, effectively giving me a worthless hand, he again checked immediately. I realized it was the ultimate scare card for his hand (he could now beat essentially nothing, a flush draw, any 9, any 4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 7-8, even A-8), so I went all-in for $270 and he folded.

in other words no better hand folds, no worse hand calls. If villain was TAG then I like a river bet more, as that board threatens his likely holdings (overpair?) something awful. The description of villain is very influential here.
