i'm sorry if there's been a post about this already, but can anyone tell me what are the 'ideal' stats for poker tracker (which i've just bought). I'm playing full ring cash games - mainly $50nl and $100nl. obviously goos stats doesn't neccessarily mean a winning play, but i'm just wondering anyway, what to aim for.
i'm talking about vpip, pf-raise, bb/100 etc...
could anyone direct me to any threads/info on poker tracker or help me, cos all the options are really overwhelming.

Are you sure you're ready for $100NL? Your question seems naive at best, and as for what bb/100 to aim for - well, you aim for as much as possible! It's a by-product of good play, not a cause of it!
There are a huge number of excellent posts on all elements of no-limit poker - it's probably best to spend your first few days on FTR reading (and contributing to threads if you like), but such a vague question is basically unanswerable. - there's just so much more to the game than an "ideal", and it's unrealistic to have one in mind.
Or - why not post your own stats and see if we can comment on any possible leaks that stand out?
everyone has stats that fit their own style of play. but id say at least 15 vpip and 5% pfr, and no more than 28% vpip and 18% pfr (full ring). bb/100...the more the better obviously. two players can have total opposite PT stats and have the same winrate long term.

my stats -
vpip = 19.79
pfr = 5.48 (abit low i think)
bb/100 = 6.61
if i sound naive that's cos i have never used any software like this before, not becuase i'm not ready for $100nl.
any thoughts?

Just a note: for any stats to be meaningful, you should have at least 10k hands, so make sure you have that then post a picture of PT's "more detail" stats.
ok, sorry to be so snappy, as u probably can imagine from my bad beat post it hasn't been the best of weeks for me!
i'd been hanging around the pokerforum.com for a while, but i thought i'd come and check out ftr.
anyway, those stats i posted above are from 4k hands, which i realise isnt a large enough sample for it to be statistically significant. i think i can improve on my bb/100, those 4k hands have involved more than the usual number of bad beats. should i pos the other 'player summary' stats from pt, like attmpts to steal, won at sd, etc? are these relevant?
Personally I think PT stats don't really become relevant until you have a large sample size, say 20k+ hands. then your stats can begin to show certain trends and things that maybe you can try to tweak.
I think it would be more beneficial to you to post actual hands. Not the bad beats but hands where at some point in the hand you were unsure what to do or if your final decision was the right one. i really should post more myself
however if you really want to compare your stats. this as come up before, if you try the search function you should find something.
You make a living on 100NL, as in, you made a lot of money already, or it's your only income?
it has been my only income. i play more than cash games though. i've recently been playing stars but doing too well, are the cash games considered tougher than other sites cos it seems that wayQuote:

Oh and I hope you have some good money stashed away if poker is your only income. You're running only 100NL, you're not familiar with the auxiliary tools etc. I'm sure your game is solid, but I really do hope that you have enough to catch a bad swing.

I think you can analyze your VPIP, PFR, positional stats, etc. after 10k hands, but not your winrate, not for much much longer than that. Have you only put in 4k hands at $100nl and are already playing for a living? Either way, your stats are ok but Id rather be raising a lot more. My current stats over the last 10k hands or so are about 16/10, Id like to be around 20/10 but am having trouble opening up my limping range.
Anyways though, dont worry too much about your winrate, and just work on being a little more aggressive. Post your player summary [or whatever it is called in PT], that has a lot more useful information in it.
You'd better prove to yourself over 100k hands that you can win consistently enough not to give yourself an ulcer, before going pro, IMO.
i am told that 20/10 are optimal stats for a full ring game
and as I get better at poker those are the numbers my stats are approaching.
I started out nutcamping, like 13/5.
Then I opened up my game and became a nit, like 14/7.
Then I opened up my game some more and became an aggro nit, like 16/9.
The session I played just now was 19/11. I am getting there, slowly but surely.
I think 20 vpip is higher then optimal in a full ring game with all solid players.
buts its not in a loose passive or weak tight full ring game (which make up the majority of low to mediums stakes online games

Mainly making loose calls preflop with crap that has potential against player who I know are bad (e.g. calling a weaktight's pf raise with QTs and either stacking them or taking the pot away from them).
More generally, I limp with lots of suited stuff, particularly suited one gappers (46, 57, 68, 79, etc). If you hit your hand there is great opportunity to destack.Quote:

i am still getting used to using the software, and i feel i am about right in that profile preflop wise, but feel a little timid postflop. i have to figure out how to find out my post flop agression level, but that will come with playing with the software...

New to the board I am currently playing $25 NL on pacific. I played $10 NL but got gtoo bored with it, I moved up with a 13 buy in bankroll. I'm back and forth of late. I do have poker tracker and I was wondering if I posted my stats if you guys can help me improve?
