I kind of like waiting until the turn to wake up, because it's a very safe board, so there are no draws that will call or re-raise to pay you off if you did raise, and calling also gives Ax the best chance to lose a lot of money. And until the river when he donks you, you have every reason to believe you have the best hand. When he donks the river that's a little suspect, but given the line you took he might do this with a lower two-pair or even just a pair of aces, so i like the river raise. When he 3-bets you that has to cast serious doubt in your mind about your hand (unless you have reads telling you otherwise), and I would probably just call the 3-bet.

Yea... I can how the river cap was a mistake... I went on a phil like rampage after I saw what he had. Usually handle my beats pretty well but this guy was just a plain donk...

Based on the betting, I would think he paired his kicker on the river more often than he had a set or somehow managed to have 42.

I rarely get to say that you should make a "crying cap," but I think this is one of those times.

I'd cap this river at this level or against donks. If he had a set by the turn he'd probably pop it again there.

I've donked flops holding gutshot draws. Plenty of times. Especially if I have some folding equity with it.

I dont tend to like to lead the turn, so I usually give up there when I brick. But he bet it, ok, he's semi-bluffing thin. Really thin. He's a bad player. Anyway, you raised. Well, now he's got beautiful implied odds -- even though he probably doesn't know it. He stumbles blindly into a good call. He spikes the river, and his implied odds are, as expected, massive.

Not saying he's a good player, in fact I doubt he's a good player, but his play ain't too bad. Thats how poker works :D

He could definitely play it that way if he holds something like 24s in hearts.

yup

42s and other gutshots are possible.. But at this level I'd bet that it's more likely a worse 2 pair.

How should I have played it then.... on the turn.... I dont see how he could bet out at the flop with 2/4 then again on the turn......this guy was a horrible player by the way..........i thought i did everything i could to push him besides not raising the flop
