Under what conditions will you guys play unsuited connectors?
If someone points a gun at my head.
HU!
Does anyone ever play these in a full ring? Maybe if you are on the button and there is one limper in front and the blinds? Does anyone like to make plays with these hands? Mostly talking high unsuited connectors like JT, T9, 98. Obviously 43o lacks value because it is hard to make the nuts and you mostly make idiot straights.
In LP with passive blinds or LP with multiple callers.

just be ready to fold if you hit a small hand like a pair (even top pair)
Suited Connectors, and Unsuited Connectors are about the same as good.
Thats what I thought. Just most people only talk about playing them if they are suited. Sometimes I think suitedness can get you into trouble if your opponents are playing no fold 'em hold 'em with any two suited cards. A hand like 76 of hearts is vulnerable to making a baby flush and losing to some fish holding a K5 of hearts.
Laeelin and WFS OTM.
Call me a manic, but every now and then I'll raise these ;) great for the imageQuote:

yep. connected-ness has more value than suited-ness for the small cards. (especially in multiway pots: HU your non-nut flush draw is usually good).
maybe this is way wrong strategically, but i feel more comfortable playing connectors in raised pots. in this case you usually have a monopoly on the low cards, and can trust non-nut straights far more than in a 4-way limped flop.
therefore i play connectors in posn at laggy tables in raised pots vs deepstacks. i dont actually believe that i make money with these hands, but i play them well enough to be at least breakeven. this affects my image in a good way, altho if my image is shattered, i drop all these hands of course.
for all those who do play these hands, gotta love this turn card...
K56, K argh
i play them all the time when i have position and there are lots of people in the pot (whether its raised or not). sometimes i raise them on the button when its folded to me.
I enjoy raising them in LP, because I feel a fresh breeze of postflop freedom blowing through my hair. It's really hard to get stacked while holding 57 offsuit. Do you know what post flop freedom smells like? It smells like magic.
Remember the Gremlin ripping apart the airplane in that old twilight zone episode? Hey, he could care less if he gets the job done. If everyone looks out the window, he'll just jump off into the forest and hump a bigfoot till the next airplane flies over.
57 offsuit = Gremlin
rondavu,
i couldn't agree more with your post.
You should never argue with crazy people. They have enough trouble arguing with themself.Quote:

also agree. its a beautiful thing that one action (raising) at the same time clarifies the information you have about opps hand AND muddies their information about your hand. a lot of times that information you find means you have to now fold, because you kicked a sleeping giant with aces or something. so long as when you do see a flop you dont suddenly forget that this is NOT a top pair hand into action.Quote:

i think the same applies to 57o and QTsQuote:

i raise with them to steal blinds if limpers come. raise big tho, or else you will be leaking chips. you have to commit yourself to postflop big bluff though, or else this will be a leak.
good for lag image if that is what you want for the table.
