Review my statistics, please

These are my statistics from Poker Stars from the .05/.10 NL tables. I know that these are not nearly as good as something I would get from Poker Tracker, but this is all I have at the moment.

It is a small sample, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me things I should be working on. I know that my pots won at showdown percentage should be a lot higher.

578 hands played and saw flop:
- 47 times out of 70 while in small blind (67%)
- 53 times out of 70 while in big blind (75%)
- 98 times out of 438 in other positions (22%)
- a total of 198 times out of 578 (34%)

Pots won at showdown - 24 out of 49 (48%)
Pots won without showdown - 56

There isnt much there to look at really, the only thing I can see is that you are playing a lot of hands in general. The high % of hands from the blinds doesnt mean a ton becuase you could easily be at a passive table, but overall yes, you are probably playing too many hands.

Your stats resemble that of a loose/passive player. This is the least profitable way to play.

If you are playing Full Ring .05/.10 then you should only be playing 10-15% of hands. You will murder the game at this level if you play tight.

Hm, how come you see so many flops on the blinds? Is it because no-one on the table tends to raise so you always get to "check in" or do you tend to call a raise from that position b/c it's cheaper?

You play way too many hands. Play only good hands and raise 3-5 x's BB, especially if in later positions (earlier not so aggressive). Your blinds is way to high. Sure limp in on the BB if there's no pre-flop raise. You're like a great target for me to kill at this level.

I'm not suggesting you only play the 19 hands ever, but it's a good place to start. You seem a little on the loose side, and as Renton says, tight play kills these games.

I know I didn't give you much to go on, but I do appreciate the help.

I don't call raises from the BB because it is cheaper. I will only call or reraise if I have good cards because I know I will be is bad position the whole time.

I do call from the SB way more often than I should.

I have been doing well lately, and I have noticed that the tighter I play, the better my results are.

I guess about everyone could say that. I just read posts on here from guys that haven't played nearly as much as I have and are much better. I need to take poker more seriously and not treat like a hobby.

There are quite a few stellar players on this site....

But the majority of posters are break-even/slightly profitable.

The fact that posters can give really good advice does not mean that they always follow it (hey, stop pointing your finger at me)!!

With sites that give rankings, and posts talking about look at how much I've won/made this year, it is very hard to not compare yoursefl to those guys and say "damn, I should really be there too."

But, the most important part in improving your game is looking at yourself and not worrying about how others are doing.

Learning new stuff is fun. I'm an analytical person. I analyse, that's how I am, what I do. Some of my endeavours over the past 2 years:
- picked up go (japanese board game) played it for 3 months then quit. Got a very decent level (15 kyu), but there is no future in that game.
- wanting to accumulate a HUGE collection of movies, series and anime. (on PC) I'm now sitting on 3 terrabytes of that stuff, but rarely if ever watch anything. Collecting it even though I have a download limit of 4 gig per month was the challenge.
- training my people skills; Tried to figure out the psychology of people in all its aspects, reading emotional cues, bla bla. Mainly for the purpose of getting good with the ladies. And damn, it has made my life so much easier and more enjoyable once I got that down lol
- building websites: XHTML and CSS, and also photoshop. The intention was to start a bussiness (or try atleast) through some application of this. But I kinda quit halfway. I fully intend to pick it up when I have the chance though.
- making money: Generally, I home-schooled myself in marketing and all such things, observed a few people I knew who were great bussinessmen and emulated their attitude and approach. I applied this in small-scale things like ebay-sales and buying and selling stuff in my surroundings. Made a bit of money off of it, blew nearly of that on cigarettes, going out, the hard drives for all my media and the unfinished preparations for my bussiness start-up plans.
- So now I've taken up poker through some friends introducing me to it. I've actually been ignoring them for 2 weeks now lol.. until I can get good enough to take back that €30 I lost in my live games with them.
- future projects: my studies (I'm the WORST student ever, without any exaggerations there); I seem to have a mortal fear of committed relationships, need to work on that asap but poker is on my mind too much now; Restart website-attempts and bussiness plans.
That's about it what I have in mind for now.

God I can ramble.. but anyway, what I meant to say:
Even though it has its ups and down, I'm having fun with poker. As with anything, you see something you are missing (a leak), you think about it, analyse it, read up on it, post it if need be here (FTR rocks), figure out an approach to improve on it and set it in practice. And a day later it's already becoming common knowledge, and you feelgood about yourself.. and then you notice heaps of other leaks that just opened up to you.

The things I analysed and studied today were twofold:
- I noticed my postflop board analysis was lacking. So I made a checklist of questions to ask myself about stuff like: what hands could beat me here, what hands can I expect my opp to have, what hands would call my raise, etc. So now I intend to practice this, like all the things before, until I can make it routine thinking.
- My people reads in poker were lacking. Too shallow. So I took some time thinking about the psychology and emotions of poker players, and came up with a bunch of traits I could pin on my opponents.. of which some I recalled reading about here on FTR, which prompted me to think I'm going in the right direction. Stuff like 'slowplays his monsters', 'can't drop a big hand even when beat', 'overraises on bluffs and raises moderate when he actually has a hand', etc. Already practiced this a bit today, and it really helped me to get a better view of my opponents and figuring out what to do. But it definately needs more practice to become routine thinking.
Hopefully I can get this down.. and who knows what will be next :)


Or to make a long story short: like chardrian said, don't look too much at what others can do.. improve your own game instead
