50nl --------> 100nl

Ok.

A few weeks back I made a thread about moving up to 50nl. I did, and I beat it for 10k hands. My br was over 2k now so I thought I would give 100nl a try.

I am getting killed. Its partially bad luck and partially bad play, hopefully more of the former than the latter. I am down three buyins across 800 hands, and I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

How much different should my play be against these 100nl opps than it was at 50?

Here are my thoughts so far:

1) TPTK is SHIT. All I win is a raised pot preflop when my flop cbet folds everyone. The only time I make any money from flopping a pair with AK is when someone calls my cbet with a draw and doesn't hit it.

2) Any time I meet resistance postflop, its almost always by a set or better.

3) 100nl seems to be more of a game of grinding your stack slowly up, whereas 25nl and 50nl was a game of taking stacks. These 100nl villains seem too stubborn to give up their stack with anything but the nuts.

Could some 100nl people post some common tips and pitfalls to look for when playing at these stakes?

I get killed every time I move up also. My BR is well over twice the recommended move-up amount, and I still play 50NL.

I always flop a few set under set, one time I was dealt six KK when someone had AA in the same night...factor in my fair share of donk plays, and I'm crushed.

I'm interested to hear the replies here, also. I feel like I run horribly every time I move up, but how long can I use that excuse?

One thing I would say, though, is if you only get resistance from sets or better, you really oughta bet every flop.

I found 50nl to be the same. It's true that there aren't people willing to hand money over to you as you move up, but that's the nature of the game. Gotta adapt etc. Gl with your journey up

Three buyins is not even a downswing. I can't even begin to count the amount times I've lost that much or more.

Everytime I move up, I seem to hit a small downswing like you're experiencing. I would suggest moving back down if you're not totally comfortable, and once you make back the 300, take another shot. From my experience 100nl was a total fishpond, moreso than 50nl.

I have no idea why people still play full ring... Maybe its people who feel they need to play 9 tables because they have 30" screens :P

seriously play 6-max renton. You seem like a good player, so I dont think your would struggle when changing to 6-max. Just play your standard TAG-game and loosen up your raising standards when you are in the CO and BTN.

3 buy-ins across 800 hands isn't much... definitely not much of a downswing at all. According to what I've seen, you seem to be a solid NL50 player, and shouldn't have too many problems scaling the fish at NL100.

Stick it out for a few thousand more and see how it turns out.

WHen I made my venture to NL100 I met the same resistance as well.My advice would be to drop back down to NL25 or NL50 and grind it back out until you make back the $300 then you can try it again.Moving up always takes time to adjust too(the bigger pot sizes;better play and opponents).

Play 10K hands. Then evaluate. Focus on play, not results. You'll do fine.

Most sensible advice is above. Dont be results orientated. You now need to win some pots without the best hand at times, but only at times.
So learn the associated lines certain hands eg set/flush draw etc

Table selection!
Find good ones, not just any old one. If full ring doesnt offer that then youre gona need to leanr to adapt to 6 max.

There is a great selection of FR tables on party. I usually just queue myself in on the top four or five avgpot tables and play from there.

Very nice. Hm, so you call a 6BB raise with 99? I usually only start playing from TT (barely) and JJ up as a playable hand, 22-99 I play as a call hand to see the flop. Is this common play like this?

Ya, its worth a call in this case. He's offering me up to 17:1 implied odds and plus I have 2.5:1 pot odds, which actually became 3.5:1 when the next player called. On top of that 99 holds up on its own sometimes.

flopping sets against qq kk and aa at 100nl is almost always a stacking play.
most players at this level cannot get rid of an over pair.
easy games, so stick with it.
