Scrabble question
Is 'niner' a word?
I was playing Scrabble with my girlfriends grandma, aunt and uncle last night. Someone had the word 'nine' up and i used my 'R' to connect it to another word. I got challaged and I kept my word up because I was positive it is a word. Well, needless to say I lost the challenge because they are using a dictionary from 1992 or something. Does anyone know if this word is usable in Scrabble?
edit - here is what it says on dictionary.com:
niner
n : the cardinal number that is the sum of eight and one

Doesn't sound legit to me. Sorry!

Yea, I think thats somewhat of a bullshit play anyways, haha. At the beginning of a scrabble game you pick a dictionary and if the word isnt in that dictionary then it doesnt count. If you are going to add to a word like that by just putting a letter at the end, then atleast have that letter be part of another word. Really bad example, but say have "rock" going down so you get more points.
