how many players really fold kq to a raise? if your raising limpers with kt then good luck sir cos youll probably need it.

i know we often fold kq to a raise, but most others dont.. but i guess if theyre willing to call with less than kt then its worth raising kt. Although this is just something i dont do often cos I could see myself building a big pot and loosing to kj,jq.

Well you gotta be careful who you do it to. If im at a table of loose-passive calling stations then im just value betting.

The times im raising KT are when I want to punish a weak limp, hopefully pick up the pot preflop or have some pretty strong outs if I get a call. If he flat calls its usually a PP anyway so I can cbet an AKQ and he folds, but he doesnt believe me if I hit my T and he calls down. I like raising 9Ts late for the same reason (but only against specific players). They call you down with 88 when you hit the 9 or T, fold when you miss on an A or K (sometimes Q,J)high flop and you only have to let them have it if it comes all low cards.

edit: Just to make it super clear, I am only doing this to specific players, and even then its rare. If I hit the 9 or T I make small value bets to the river and ill fold it to strength. Im only interested in winning small pots with these hands (unless I hit my straight or flush), im not going to waste time losing a big one.

this is bastardized version of a squeeze play. the difference being you dont want them both to fold because you magically know that you have the first caller dominated.
