This is meant for MTTs (and probably SNGs although I don't really play those).

It applys pretty well to SnGs, I have found it usefull in my SnGs.
I recomend this for any begginer its a great post.
I endorse that post.
In particular, that you reraise one pre-flop raiser with AK is also paramount in a NL cash game.
It's your cheapest way to get away from AA/KK. (I've died on enough Kxx flops with AK against AA until I started to do this. Sure you might get a smooth call from AA, but sometimes you'll be re-raised, and then you can basically throw your hand away. You're also in a lot of trouble if you have AKs against AA/KK when you get overcards + flush draw or overcards + gutshot because you're likely to miscount your outs completely and donk off on a semi-bluff)
You're in position. You get so much more equity from pre flop re-raise, cont bet 95% of flops, raise if bet into 50% of the time if you miss than if you call and then fold to the cont bet. If you raise the cont-bet when you hit your hand, you're gonna be escalating the pot and setting yourself up to get destacked by AA/KK or QQ/JJ/TT on a Q/J/T high flop.
You might take it down pre flop. This is very important.
You get AK 32 times for each 24 times you get AA/KK (or exactly 32 times if you reraise QQ 2/3rds of the time). This way, your opponent doesn't know whether you're on overcards or overpair when you reraise before the flop.
Nice post in simple terms. I'm sending this to my wife because I think AK is probably the hand she loses the most with. Since she refuses to listen to me, maybe she'll listen to somebody else.
ak is so overrated
im sure someone has a sig that says AK 'the anna kornicova, looks good but doesnt win much'
My similar thoughts.
I think people dislike AK because when you loes with it you often lose big... they just forget that when it wins, it wins big too.
I like AK lots.
