76 suited

Ok here is another donkey play but i had postion and was trying to buy the pot there. I raised to 1 dollar with 76 on button and got reraised .75 more cents. Should i have folded to .75 because the implied odds were very good if i hit. On the flop he bet .25 and i had to raise him to see if he was weak. Then he raised me 1.75 more, now i had the inside str8 draw and i know the pot odds were not there but i called. I shoulda just folded right there right?Ty

Way way too aggressive. This guy tells you over and over that he has a hand and you should have listened. The preflop is fine but from the flop onwards you just need to get out as fast as possible.

Ok im starting to see a theme with your hands.

Almost all of them contain the phrase "I know I was behind and I know I didn't have the pot odds to chase but I called. Should I have folded instead?"

Yes you should.

On that flop you can do 2 things.

1) Take the cheap card you are offered.
2) Try to steal.

If you try to steal you can do three things.

1) He folds and you win the pot right there.
2) He calls and you get to see the next card for more than you would have done.
3) He raises and you either have odds to call or you fold.

You said you were raising to see if he was weak. You asked a question and totally ignored the answer. If you want to ask a question then listen to the answer. Otherwise just take the cheap card.


Sorry if this seems a little harsh. I made the same mistake when I was new to 5NL and I lost plenty of money through it until Fnord "shit all over my posts". Just hope I can do the same for you :)

fold to the flop reraise. the preflop reraise is a red flag, you flopped nothing, you tried to steal it, it didn't work. let it go.

One thing to add however on the river:

Why do you raise on the river here? There is almost zero chance of him folding here, especially when he's shown that he likes his hand and that you've shown nothing on the turn.

preflop is fine for a solid player, but I don't think you are advanced enough as a poker player to start playing suited connectors fast like that. Of course you have to call his silly min-reraise, but also understand that he limp-reraised so he likely has a good hand. Be careful when players knowingly build a pot out of position.

On the flop, I think you just have to call his silly donk bet. If you are going to raise him here, which I think is pretty terrible given the preflop action, I think you have to put more in.

Turn, ugh, this guy is a clown. good read just calling here. He min-bets the flop, you raise him, he min-reraises, you call. Then he min-bets the turn. Too funny.

River.......................... read my commentary on the turn. Why are you raising this river?

I don't think you do at all. All ou have is a gutshot draw and your oppo has demonstrated clear strength. The only hope you have here is to stay in with the gutshot, hit it and destack him thanks to implied odds, but this isn't going to happen often enough to be worth it.

The river was just appalling. You're repping trip 3s, right? He'd have even called an all-in here, I'm sure. He would most likely have put you on KQ or similar, I think, so the cards that appear on the turn and the river probably didn't even resonate as a potential threat.

The flop limp/re-raise is a certain sign of a strong hand, at worst TPTK but probably better. You just don't have the weapons to tackle it.

:) I was actually referring to the preflop action when I was quoted, but I thought calling the flop 3-bet was routine given the implied odds so I didn't even bother mentioning it.

Call the flop, look to get out on the turn if he throws a real bet your way...
