Is this even possible?

this isn't exactly a bad beat story so i wasn't sure where to post this...i need someone good at math to read this because the calculator on my computer can't calculate this...

the night started out with me flopping a straight on the first hand and folding it when a 3rd spade came on the turn. he had the flush. i barely had any chips left after that so i went all in in late position with 99. same flush guy called me and hit a flush on the river.

this is where it gets crazy...we started a side game and 2 of the first 5 hands where flushes and the other 3 were FULL HOUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there was never more then 3 of a suit on the board at a time.

what are the odds on this?
from what i understand the odds of getting a full house are 1 in 700
the odds of getting a flush are 1 in 510.

i understand that after playing many hands you see a lot of weird things but why would this happen to me when i decided to play outside my bankroll for the first time that i can remember? there was also another first....it was the first time i played poker there without being high on ganja.

i think your odds are wrong for gettting flushes and fullhouses...
i dont know the odds exactly but in know flushes are a lot more comon thatn 1 in 500 if your cards are suited going all the way to the river, or even the flop i think. im not sure what your talking about as far as chances there.
and having a pocket pair would give you higher chances of a fullhouse.

you seem like one of those guys who times "OMG OMG OMG WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THAT!?! HAS ANYBODY EVER SEEN THAT BEFORE?" when the flop comess all one card like 444

Of course it is possible. It is even possible for the flop to be AAA on three consecutive hands…it just isn’t likely.

Bankroll managment is a propaganda that Sklansky and his friends make it known to public in order to cut-profit from others.
After all , if u have the skill why care about minor stuff like play in ur roll ?

...it doesn't quite hit home hard enough when i can't get a better job then the one i have in this shitty town
poker has paid for my marijuana since i started playing 5 months ago.
i have to smoke because the meds i've been told i need to take don't work.
my doctor says there is nothing wrong with me smoking but there is no way to regulate what strain i'm smoking unless i live somewhere where its legal or i grow it on my own..neither of those things are possible right now.
i am being dropped from my insurance in a couple weeks cuz i'm turning 25 so that means no more meds(they help better than nothing).
last week i missed almost a whole week of work due to my mental illness and felt that since i make the money at least 3/5 tournaments it was my only hope to get through this week.
-i took a shot..i'm broke. only for twice as long as it would have been had i not played. it happens. its just weird that it had to happen in that fassion. no bad beat at the poker table has ever really effected me much at all compared to to the ups and downs my illness has brought me. sorry if it seemed like i was whining. thats poker. let it be a lesson.

actually one of the flops was AAA..no one had a full house on that one

there was another full house later in that game that had its highs and lows.....with no limpers i went all in with KJ from the button cuz i had about 4X the blind...the big blind who was now even shorter stacked called me with 55..he hit one on the flop..the turn was a King and the River was a King..he was devastated got up shook my hand and started walking away..of course we then realized he had the full house so yeah...that was pretty much how the night ended for me.

omg.. This one time.. At bandcamp.. The flop came 2h 6s 9c for one hand and the very next hand it came 5s Qs Ad. What are the odds??!

Answer: the very same as any 3 specific cards multiplied by 3 more specific cards. Doesn't matter if it's Ah Ac Ad and then Kc Ks Kh or those two flops above.

i'm always aware of that ....but what would it take to freak u out? 3 royal flushes in a row?
maybe it was just the fact that i was playing with the fear of going broke or the lack of ganja that was distorting my perception. i was finding it hard to make mathematical sound decisions because every time there was 3 of a suit or a pair on the board i thought i had to lay my hand down. i was right every time. maybe i was just making lucky reads?

I'm glad somebody else understands this concept.

It also makes me laugh at my friend's house when something like this happens:

Flop 1: Ad, Qh, 8s

Flop 2: Ah, Qs, 5c

"Oh my god, didn't you shuffle? Why are the same cards out there again??"

That is pretty crazy. But of course, it's possible.

You know the old saying, the chances of being in a plane crash are the same as getting two royal flushes in a row. I've only gotten two of them in my entire life. So I guess that means whenever a plane crashes someone got two royal flushes in a row and is telling all their friends about it this amazing occurance. Which it is. But still possible.

i guess i should say that mj would work as a med on its own if i always had the right strain to choose from. thus far all the meds i've taken have had some pretty nasty side effects and pretty much any mj takes care of the side effects. does that make more sense?
