First book?

Okay i figured its about time i read a book or two now. SO instead of reading reviews and such, I was hoping some of you guys could give me an advice on a good "first book" to buy.
Something that will help me improve in online NL ring games.

The first, and only, book I read was Harrinton on Holdem. It is a tourney book but it has a lot of info that will improve your cash game. Other than that, Theory of Poker (I still need to buy this one) or Small Stacks Holdem if you play limit

IMO, the first book you should read is Theory of Poker. The second and third books you should read are Theory of Poker and Theory of Poker.

HoH1, then Theory of poker.

harrington on hold 'em vol. 1. -- early stages of a tournament, full tables and whatnot. similar to ring games. just be aware of the differences there.

vol 2. -- later stages of tournaments. shorthanded, headsup, blind stealing and stuff.

theory of poker -- never read this one. but footnoted in HOH a lot. odds, the gap concept, etc.

hold 'em poker for advanced players - deals with limit, but the first one i read. this is where i picked up the aggressive part of my game. bet bet bet

i got all my books at books a million, and use the old ladies discount card thingy to get ten percent off.

You're putting the cart before the horse. In pretty much any subject you want a solid foundation before you move on to more complex matters. Harrington on Hold 'em is an awesome book, but although much of it's contents can be applied to cash games, it focuses solely on tournament play. Theory of Poker covers all the essentials of poker. It concepts apply to all games and limits and also to tournaments. If you only could buy one book you'd be much better served buying Theory of Poker.
