lets say your playing .01/.02 no limit on paradise poker. I get JJ from early position and limp in. one guy in middle raises 5x bb. 2 other guys call.
I did one certain thing here that my friend didn't agree with. I just called, and he argued i should've raised.
I've researched this hand a lot and i came to the conclusion that based on pot odds and implied odds the call was the right move at these levels.
What does everyone think, note i'm playing .01/.02 blinds.
depends on the table mostly its likely 1 or 2 people will call the reraise so i gotta figure get that you would want to get in cheap try to hit trips or small cards and get your bets in or just fold to an overcard.
in Early position at these loose tables its best to play JJ and under for set value, even QQ sometime if the tables is really loose. In middle-late position and i'm opening the pot it will always be for a raise
what reason did he give for raising? i can't think of one.
He wasn't making much sense, i was just wondering if for some off chance he was right.
JJ is a very strong hand. On a 10 players table with everybody calling to the river you have a 19,3% chance of winning. AA, KK, QQ and AKs are the only hands which have better chances of winning. Play passive and try to hit a J on the flop is not a good idea. You can win w/o a J on the flop but you need to be in heads-up or in a 3-way pot. With 4 limpers you're dead, even if you hit a J on the flop some limper can have a flush draw or an oesd. The only reason why you shoulden't raise after a middle raise is :
_ The raiser is a tight raiser and you are pretty sure that he has AA/KK/QQ. A middle open raiser could have raised with any hand like 99/TT/AKo/AJs. A maniac could have raised with A9o
_ You are sure that limpers will not fold even if you go AI.
The only world while playing JJ is isolate because preflop you're stronger than any hand axcept AA/KK/QQ. After the flop, in most of the case you will not hit a J and you'll found a scary card or some limper would have an OESD. If there is only one opponent on the folp you still have an Ev+ against one scary card so raise or reraise him (and fold if he is reraise you). If there's two or more oppenent, a scary card, a raiser and 1 limper or more, fold !
JJ is one of the best hand for a heads up. You cannot waste this kind of hand. You have to be aggressive preflop and to fold post flop if there is too much players, no J and a scary card.

From EP I would have come in with a raise and watched the table, if reraised from MP I call and see the flop. Decide from there where to go with the hand, but be prepared to drop it. JJ is pretty respectable pre-flop and I see 5xBB from players with connectors alot, especially from MP/LP.

The $2 tables are all about making lots of money with a good hand, 'cause they'll pay you. JJ by itself is not a good enough hand, it needs help by either another J or all unders not suited not coordinated.
You seem to be on the right track for playing at the stakes you're at.
Playing JJ for set value is a sound strategy; I like your call.
At higher limits, more players will fold to your reraise, and the strength of JJ will hold up against a single caller missing his K or A or Q, while you rep hitting your Q or K or A.
At the penny tables, I like what stoltzy said; too many of those penny guys just want to play their hands, so you can't get them to fold anyway. This leaves you to to play a pair of Jacks with only two outs post flop, and too much money invested to lay down to his Powerful-Flush-Draw-Plus-Bottom-Pair, or his Mighty-King-Four-Offsuit-But-I-Caught-My-King-What's-A-Kicker?. Penny games can be like being tackled by a pack of kindergarteners -- sure you can take 'em one at a time, but in packs, they are viscious. :shock:
