I was playing NL25 and was in a room with a guy who would either call your bet or reraise it way over the pot size or just come out with a $3 bet in to say a 1.50 pot.
the guy was stealing pots from me most of the hands and i didnt know what to do. I know to hit the nuts and bust him on it but that wasnt happening.
Pick a spot and push back. You don't need the nuts to bust him, you need a hand thats better than his. If he's doing this constantly, he doesn't have crap most of the time, and he has weak holdings a good portion of the time. You dont need to make top set or the nut strait to bust this guy, check raise him AI with TPTK or bottom two pair and your hand will probably be good or he will fold and you will send the message to him to stuck f'n around with you when you're in a pot.
You'll have to tighten up a bit pf. This guy is going to bleed your chips away if you don't. So the more times you tangle with him, the more chips he'll take from you with pure aggression. Go after the other guys when you're in lp and the big stack has already folded. When you do have a strong hand, rope a dope or drop the hammer on the big stack, depending on stack sizes and whether or not he's one of those "Calling Station Big Stack Bullies" - the ones that will never let you bluff them.
Grow some balls and challenge the bastard. You're too weak tight if he's getting the best of you.
As Rondavu said, stand up to him. Hell, even if it's just with middle pair, STAND UP TO HIM on one hand, and it will make him think twice about doing what he's doing. As long as you keep letting him do it, there's no reason for him to stop.
NL25 Full Ring, I suggest you don't do this. Let him keep playing like this. I love playing against players like this online, especially if they don't preflop raise too much, but then go to town with any pair or overcards afterwards :-)
Instead, tighten up considerably on this table when you're out of position with regard to the 'bully' if he's in the hand. Try to get position on him, change seats if you can.
Observe how he reacts to other players' actions and write it in the player notes for a while until you get top two pair or better with him in the pot. Now 'feign weakness' in a way that you've observed makes the bully make big bets. I'd ideally call on the flop then push the turn (after I've induced him to bet).
It only takes one hand to get his whole stack.
